Hartford Auto Club, Voice Vox a Virtual TRAIN of rip off scams, North Miami Florida

People in FL you are NOT ALONE! This company has hit in Maine too!

Back in October a gentleman called me and said that he was offering a service in affiliation with my bank.That my bank was offering this service to its good standing customers. He even mentioned my bank! At first, like with ALL other telemarketers that call me during the dinner hour, I refused. He kept saying things like, "but couldnt you use $100 in FREE gas?" I accepted thier offer to REVIEW the material and make my decision. I NEVER gave him my account number!He specifically told me that I would not have to give him any credit card or bank info...because obviously he already had it! I agreed to review the info...to this day, I have NEVER recieved one piece of paper from these people! If I HAD, I would have reviewed the info, used the free gas coupons and canceled!!

This morning I was going over my bank statement and noticed a $99 Auto Debit from my account. I called the phone number listed. It was an automated system and gave me a Customer Service number to call.

I called the Customer Service department and spoke to "Tasha". She first asked me for my ID #, I told her I didnt have one. She took my name and zip code. When she came back on the line I told her that I did NOT recieve any paperwork to review and that I wanted my money refunded. She told me that my trial period had ended on 11/13/02. I asked her how would know that seeings how I never recieved the info? I also asked her how I was supposed to know my ID # if I never recieved the info?!

Anyway, her first suggestion was for me to order an investigation of the voice authorization. I told her that I HAD authorized them to send me info. She then told me that if I canceled today, I would loose the $99 fee because the trial period had eneded. She could issue a non-renewal order and I would NOT be charged for NEXT YEAR!

I told her that I wanted my money back, that her company had not delivered the info packet they promised therefore I didnt have the opportunity to review it and go thru the correct channels to cancel. I also told her that I had read a NUMBER of Scam reports on that company and was going to follow suit with many other RIPPED OFF consumers and file a complaint with the FLorida Attorney General's office and Maine Attorney General's office.

After speaking to Hartford Auto Club Customer Service I called my local bank and alerted them to the fact that this company was telling people they were affiliated. My bank was FLOORED! Not only that, but somehow Hartford got my account numbers!

I began reading the number of complaints on this site about Hartford Auto Club, to find another company that had sent me a welcoming letter. I recieved a NON DATED letter from Voice Vox this week, welcoming me to the service and information on how to go about setting it up. It states that I have a 10 day trial period....from when? I called the Customer Service number for this company (866-534-08433) and talked to "Brandy". I told her that I never ordered or authorized this service and she told me that it was part of the Hartford Auto Club offer. I told her to cancel me! I also alerted her to the fact that Voice Vox would be listed with my complaint to the appropriate Attorney General's offices.

BEWARE....this service doesnt come out of your checking account or charged to your credit card. This service is billed to you on your PHONE BILL!
