We received a phone call from a Gina representing Imperial Majesty Cruise Line, we were not home. The VM messge was to call a toll free # to claim the free cruise we had won for taking a survey.
We called and was told we only had to pay the Port Taxes of $59/person (up to 4 people) upfront to reserve our 3 day/2 night cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas. This would be good for 18 months & we could transfer the free cruise to anyone we wished. This was being offered in order to fill up the cabins not taken on scheduled cruises.
As proof of our reservation, a recording would be made of our conversation & the giving of our credit card information. This would be our receipt.
Red Flags Everywhere!
I see that this scam was done last year....was there no action taken? If not,
I would like to know why.

Karl, when I called about my FREE offer, they wanted to charge me $798 for both my husband and I, then another port fee of $200. They should not be telling people it is FREE when it is not. If I had received the package saying it was discounted and not free, atleast they would have been telling the truth.

They are charging port taxes for a cruise and expect the passenger to buy drinks, gamble, and buy other stuff on board. It is better than sailing with an empty cabin. The ship will be gone in a year or so along with all the other passenger ships that can't meet the new Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) standards. Give them a break. They are trying to make a few bucks and actually do give you a cruise for tax money which probably saves a hundred dollars or so on one of these cheap cruises to Nassau.
