If you are a employee of JB Hunt BEWARE!

I was employed at JB Hunt on the dedicated Budweiser account and on April 26th, 2005 I was travelling on I80 near the Indiana border when I came upon a accident scene involving a tanker truck that had crashed into the East/West concrete divider wall and spilled its unknown contents all over the East bound lanes in which I was travelling. This was around 7 a.m. and shortly after rolling through the unknown liquid that was covering the road I developed blisters on my face and lips and was also sweating badly and could not catch my breath, so I immediately conacted dispatch, told them what had happened and soon parked until I felt better.

I delivered my load and thought it best to take my 10 hour break and head back to St. Louis in the morning, when I arrived there, night dispatch encouraged me to see my doc just to get checked out, I did so the same day, without knowing what was in the tanker, my doc said to take a week off and wait for a accident report to see what had caused the problems.

I then contacted all the appropriate JB personnel and contacted Workmans Comp department sho assured me that they would send a check asap and that I had to get cleared by their doc before I could return to work.

I was released by my doc on Friday. The accident was the previous Tuesday, still no accident report but my blood tests showed negative and I was ready to get back to work only to be told that I had to be released by their doc and also they could not send a check until they had a acident report. They were also advising me that they checked and there was not one to get and they were not wasting anymore time looking for one, basically saying that there was not a accident and I was lying about the whole thing!

Since I live in St. Louis and the accident happened in Chicago, I had to hire a lawyer to help retrieve a accident report which royally pissed off JB and I was soon stuck in a loop with their doc not releasing me to work and recieving a letter from JB that I had a certain date to return or I was terminated.

The funny thing is their doc would not release me before that date so they were basically terminating me but covering their own asses. To this date, there has still been no accident report filed and I have since started working for a great outfit out of Kansas City, Ks.

To sum it all up, I went to the doc to get a shot of Benedryl and get back to work and ended up in a months long battle for my job which I ended up losing. This is not a slam on the people or personnel at the St. Louis terminal; in fact, they were very supportive during this time but they had to obey the orders by Corporate in Lowell, Arkansas.

How about this?>

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I think he got ahold of a dirty lot lizard. That where the blisters came from.

It's amazing to me how all these stories have their own little sad story of why they needed to take time off, and can't understand why the company fired them.

Man-up and do your job.  Stop making excuses why you failed.

It's true.

Kevin is a stand up guy and I talked to him right before he went out. I'm not gonna say who I am or what I did because I don't want any repercussions but what he's saying is true. Kevin is a hard worker and always very chipper. He came to work for that reason to work, and was very happy with the account.

He called and said what happened and was told to seek medical, I talked with him as the whole situation was happening while he was on his run. We had other drivers going in the opposite direction that saw the accident.

I'm not gonna say the company did anything to screw him on purpose but the burden of documentation falls on him and it just did not work out for whatever reason, but the blisters were definately real. Basicaly it falls into the lifes not fair category. I do wanna wish KG good luck and hope that things worked out with that little lady he was so jazzed about seeing back then.

ALL incidents regarding a commercial vehicle are reported to DOT/FMCSA

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 05, 2006

I found all of this a little hard to believe too.

ANY spill gets reported to EPA via the Highway Patrol/local DOT and then immediately reported to the US DOT/FMCSA. And it would have hit TV NEWS and RADIO as well as the local newspapers.

This driver just got too busy to document it WHEN it happened and to follow up. Typical.

The driver should have IMMEDIATELY reported it to his dispatcher/driver manager, and also called 911 to make a record of it and get help to the scene.

Instead, he waited until after blisters formed on his face and was having trouble breathing! How many hours later was this? Had to be a long time as he was in a truck and somewhat protected, so for blisters to form would take a while regardless of what it is.

I have extensive chemical agent traing from the military, and have, myself been exposed to many types. I know the symptoms.

An accident that big on the interstate would usually be jurisdiction of the State Police.
Also, a potentially toxic spill as you are alluding to would also assuredly involve the EPA.
Find it hard to believe that this accident couldn't be proven.
I'm sure there were accounts in the local rag if it did happen.

Time to be honest with yourself

Why should other JB Hunt employees "beware"?

JB Hunt asked for a copy of the accident report. You didn't provide one. They checked for one and there wasn't one to be had. As far as JB Hunt knows an accident never occured. How can you fault them??

I guess they should just take the word of every truck driver at face value because it's widely known that truck drivers never lie. Time to face reality, driver. Hunt has a multi-billion dollar business to run and has more to do than tie up their resources trying to track down an accident report for you. This is your issue and your reponsibility to provide documentation. In the absence of the accident report they can rightly assume your story is false. If what you say actually happened then simply provide the requested accident report.
