Hi made a horrible mistake by hiring these idiots to help me with my move.  Larry with OC Movers: (949) 940-8801

Situation: Moving 3 bedroom home furnishings into storage unit.  Everything was wrapped up professional, bed frames, desks, were all take apart and secured for no loose ends, dressers were all wrapped tightly, all boxes were labeled and stacked neatly to be “moved.

We booked this guy calling himself Larry from OC Movers off of Craigslist.  I guess all those horror stories about CL is true.  I just thought it wouldn’t happen to me.

So this we confirmed moving for 10am on Sunday.  He calls me up at 10:30am telling me he “just got into his office.”  I thought movers got in early to get a early start.. but that is besides the point

I can tell it was a mistake when he was repeating everything that we had discussed the day before when I called to confirm to make sure they weren’t going to bailon me.  It isn’t easy to call movers to come and move a 3 bedroom home on one mornings notice.

So I didn’t have a good feeling when he was late at our confirmed time.  When he showed up, he pulled up in a mini van.  Yes, a mini van.  I didn’t feel good then.  I asked him where the moving truck was and he said it was on its way.  So still not here yet and the agreed upon time was at 10am.

So when “Larry” showed up, he had his mother waiting in the car.  He parked in the MIDDLE of my complex’s driveway… I asked him to part in the visitors parking spot to not block any of my neighbors… he replied by saying “it’s okay” like he was the Sherriff of something.  I asked him politely again to please park his car in the visitor’s parking spot.. again, he said “don’t worry, its okay.”  So one of my neighbors drives by and has to park in the visitors parking spot.  Moving is already difficult but having to make it inconvenient for your neighbors is another thing.  So I asked him again, “can you please move your car into the visitors parking spot, you don’t live here, we have policies here and have to respect other people that live here too.”  After three requests, he finally moved his car.  He later told me “I didn’t want to leave my mother out there alone.”  Who the HELL brings their mom to “work?”

I had agreed to pay for 3 hours of moving, I was up front with Larry and said that if it takes more than 3 hours.. I wasn’t paying over that price.  He told me that they would be able to get this done in that time since I had packed everything, and took everything apart

I got even more concerned when I started seeing them taking clothes out of my son’s dresser and just TOSSING IT ON THE FLOOR.  I asked why are you doing that?  His response “Oh, we have to lighten up the load.”  Not only was that a invasion of privacy but the m**o was making an even bigger mess.  They later did that to my wife’s dresser with her under garmets and that is when I drew the line.  I told them they are movings and should be qualified to move standard home furniture.  Not only was this fat pig sweating, sloppy but was just very unprofessional.

Because of how slow he and his ready to retire “movers” were taking so long, I had to get my hands dirty and moved the mattresses down by myself, yes, myself, the bedframes, I didn’t trust them touching my flat screen tv’s so I brought those down and out to the truck myself…..overall, I moved 50% of my own stuff myself.

The other two movers, nice and all but too slow to be movers.  They were “SLIDING” boxes down my stairs instead of actually carrying them.  Yes, I really said SLIDING.  That was how bad it was.

Finally, we get to the storage unit, and he wants me to pay him for 5.75 hours PLUS a $80 tip.  That is when I told him I was only paying him for the 3 hours and that it wasn’t my fault his team is slow and that I should pay them less since I did half the work.

This is where Larry said “okay, we will just leave then.”   Which I didn’t, as long as they dropped off my stuff.  Which he wasn’t willing to release my  items.  So the people at Public Storage got involved and Larry and his OC Movers didn’t want to release my items.

Things got very heats, here I was , tired, exhausted, sore, with my wife and child with me and this m**o was holding my stuff hostage.  He threaten bodily harm to me in front of my wife if I didn’t pay  up, I was worried about my wife and my son since there was just myself and three of them.

So I did what I had to do to protect my family and property.  I called the Police and had them come resolve the matter.

Conclusion, with the Officer’s help, Larry and his OC Movers moved my stuff into my storage unit, I paid him the 3 hours I agreed to and no cent more.

Funny thing is, this guy had the audacity to ask for a TIP at the end.  He even wrote on the receipt extra tip.  I told him to write me a new receipt because he wasn’t getting s**+# from me.

Overall Satisfaction: Is there a grade less than -100?

I hired movers so I wouldn’t have to move anything since I hurt my back for 2 weeks after my last move.  But NEVER again will I use CL or this guy

Beware of this guy, Larry from OC Movers.  (949) 940-8801
