I answered the advertisement that virtually everyone sees on the internet these days.  Learn Spanish (or any other language) in just ten days for $10. I received the first shipment, and listened to the CDs.  The product was OK, but nothing spectacular.

About a month later, I received a much bigger box with more CDs, with a letter that said they were offering these CDs for free as a way of saying thanks for my prior order. I didn't even open the box, as I had not been terribly impressed with the first program. Nor did I read anything on this letter that Internet Order now tells me was in the letter, that if I didn't cancel, I would be charged $256 for that order of CDs, and would receive succeeding shipments for which I would be charged $256.00 each.

Then, I noticed that my credit card had been charged three times for $64 each.  Unfortunately, I'm not too diligent about reviewing my credit card bills. I called Internet Order LLC, which was the name of the company collecting the bill, and was left on hold for over 15 minutes before I hung up. About a week later, I got through and gave them a piece of my mind. I told them I had never ordered any new CDs, that I did not want them, and expected them to, to discontinue sending CDs, to discontinue charging me for new purchases, and to refund my old charges. They told me to go ahead and return the CDs, but did not give any special instructions as to how to do that. I was also led to believe that the order would be canceled, and my charges would be refunded if the CDs were returned.  I hoped that was the end of the story.  Unfortunately, it wasn't.

I have since been sent several new invoices, but no more boxes of CDs, even though they claim that I have received three boxes of CDs total.  I have received one, and I returned that one. They now claim that I owe them $512.00. They also tell me they have no record of the telephone call I described above where I was told to return the CDs, no record of receiving the CDs I returned, although they claim they have proof that I received 3 boxes of CDs, and they have no record of receipt of the letter I sent them two months ago complaining about the process and demanding return of my payments.

One Internet LLC has now told me they are going to do a search for "missing products" because they take that claim very seriously.  They want me to follow up on the progress of the search in one to two weeks.  But they aren't too serious about returning my $256.00.  In fact, they have flatly refused to do that.  They also have suggested nothing about canceling the further $512.00 they claim is due, even though they haven't denied my claim that I never received a second or third box of CDs.  If they don't come up with a reasonable solution in the near future, I plan to report them to the Califoria AG and the Federal Trade Commission.  I recommend that all of the people on this report do likewise.  Maybe a concerted effort will convince them to stop.

This is a greedy, unscrupulous bunch that should be avoided at all costs. Just say no to the Pimsleur Approach!
