I had an ALL INCLUSIVE DOOR TO DOOR quote. They get to my place the morning I have to move out and start putting the screws to me. Every single piece of paper they handed me had some sort of extra hidden fee that wasn't disclosed, despite me having ask multiple times, if there were any other charges I needed to be aware of. I had everything in boxes except for the furniture. All they had to do was carry it to the truck. They added $9 for every moving blacket, $3 for every roll of tape, $12 for every item that had any plastic wrap on which is all of them, $250 to move it from the big truck to a little truck in Chicago, wrap pieces of glass that were on the desk, tv stand, etc that were already listed on the quote, plastic wrap for the mattress and box spring, 8% fuel surcharge, bubble wrap.......I could possible list or remember all of the extra charges.

I want to remind everyone that this was an ALL INCLUSIVE DOOR TO DOOR quote.....that was suppose to include all charges. To top it off....after they loaded the truck, in which I decided not to take everything that was on the quote, they still insisted that it took up more space than estimated for the quote and that if would be extra for the additional space. Now this wasn't some machine or measuring device that determined that it took up more space. This is a guy standing there looking at the stuff in the back of the truck.

What a scam!!!!!

They just say anything they can to sell the job or get your stuff on the truck and then they whip you with the fine print. It doesn't matter how many questions you ask, they will just lie and then reference the fine print later. When you ask a direct question about other charges or fees, they say no or use industry terms that you aren't familiar with, so you don't catch it until it's too late. You can't win with this company, so stay far away.

Disregard previous positive update!!!!!

AUTHOR: Denny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 07, 2011

Please completely disregard my previous positive update.  I would never hire this company again.  The only reason I posted the positive remarks is because the company still had my belongings and they were threatening to charge me more or keep my stuff.  They even threatened to take legal action if I didn't remove my negative post.  Fortunately Rip Off Report refused to take it down, so they just ask me to post that positive update.

Well I finally have my stuff after nearly a month of sleeping on the floor and eating off of paper plates.  The final bill ended up being more than double the original quote.

I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Oh......

They broke my IKEA desk, which wasn't too expensive but still needs to be replaced.  They also took the front wheel off of my bicycle and lost the screws, so I have to take it to a bike shop for repairs that will end up costing another $50 to $100.

On second thought, they're not so bad after all

At least they respond well to criticism.  After discovering this report, someone from the company promptly called to see if there was anything they could do to resolve the dispute.  Turns out is was all just a big misunderstanding due to poor communication.  They offered to give me credit for some of the packaging materials (moving blankets) in exchange for a release of liability from other complaints and as a show of good faith.  It was like a discount of $276, which I appreciate.  Other than that, the guys who picked up my stuff and loaded the truck, Nick and Cesar, were extremely nice and one of the "relocation consultants", Yani was very helpful.  Next time I'll pay more attention to the details and cover all of these topics on the front end.  Ultimately they were really gracious in working out the misunderstanding and I would consider using them again when I move.
