We lived in the residence managed and owned by THE RESIDENTIAL GROUP FAYETTEVILLE  for a year and a half. As we moved out FEBRUARY 1st, we were inspected and told only to wipe out the refrigerator. We received a letter in the mail stating that we would be receiving a meager $170 out of our $1000 deposit.

Charges as follows:
Carpet cleaning $130
Return inspection trip $50
Cleaning $120
Yard work  $400
exterminating for pet $130

All of the charges fall under landlord responsibility. According to the North Carolina Security Deposit Act landlords are not to use any of the security deposit for anything under the likes of wear and tear.

They are in direct violation with the act and now are giving us the run-around. Since Fayetteville is predominantly military, I can GUARANTEE these people have been scamming other service members and their families, like mine, for thousands of dollars.

It is the landlords responsibility to clean for the next tenant, not the responsibility for the people moving out to pay for.

Also, our house was robbed during the time we lived there and we asked if we would be reimbursed for an upgraded motion sensor we would have installed. The landlord agreed, wanting us to "feel as safe as possible". He has verbally agreed twice to repay us the $250 dollars for the alarm, not stating that having the alarm installed was under our own discretion and money. WHAT!!!!!?????

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! They will not fix

I'm sorry you may have misunderstood what a tenant or owner responsibility is by contract.

You were a great tenant and I'm sorry it ended like it did. However when a tenant is upset with us is usually due to them not understanding their responsiblity. It is not a landlords responsiblity to clean up a property after a tenant. I had to get cleaners and yard crew in within hours of turning in keys. Thats what you may have thought was eccessive in costs. If I have to spend over 100.00 to get it remedied it is a damage. Also a .5 acre lot with leaves past your ankles costs $! That is a damage. I would much rather not have to get someone to the home and pay extra either. I have been in business for 16 years and there are very few complaints and many many rave revues. You did take the home when it needed some yard work and some cleaning however you took the home... and I think there is always a misunderstanding by tenants that that does not releave you from turning over the home by contract in a certain condition and all tenants sign agreeing to that. These revues can damage business for a company by 1000.00s of dollars and as this one has been in place for 4-5 years probably 10s of thousands.. I'd never do anything to insite scathing revues on purpose. Thank you for your consideration of this information when revueing. Oh, and the return inspection fee was because we were not called to say you were not ready for the inspection and we had to go out twice... its in the contract.
