It is too good to be true:

-One Caucasian male "home theater pinch hit contractor/installer from Good Guys" in minivan loaded with several boxes of big "hi-end" home theater speakers saying he got a pair of speakers "loaded mistakenly by the warehouse which his customer does not want and will sue", wants to make an extra buck

-Professional-looking packaged "hi end" speakers with "List Price $2,499 EACH" being sold for "ATM Money or even $300 A PAIR which you can immediately turn around in eBay for so much more" (note: no UPC on box)

-Glossy "DVD Review" magazine with ad showing TR-2900 high List Price of $2,499

-Glossy flyer in THICK (read heavy duty) lamination showing speakers with, again, the list price

-removed one speaker from box to show "impressive" components (they are indeed impressive even from a humbled and greedy audio enthusiast like myself)

-Powered speakers, good specs, fancy ads for an unfamilar ("maybe esoteric" I thought) brand

-thinking I had a good deal I haggled from $150 & he settled for $260; even said he'll return in a week cos I owed him lunch for such a great deal

-Followed me to ATM, wrote his phone number, showed catalogue of "NAD" (enthusiast brand) receiver which he offers for less than retail

-Got home hooked up speakers (not bad but not excellent)

-Went to Internet to check and found:

2. http://www.crimes-of-persuasion.com/Crimes/InPerson/speaker_scams.htm

Conclusion:
-Speakers sound good and powerful but not excellent and made cheaply (poor fit and finish under close inspection)
-Configuration (tower w/ 2 mids, 1 high, ported side throw 10" bass), looks & heft similar to name brand (Polk 700LSi25E) around $2,499 A PAIR
-I objectively assess these TR-2900's at $50-$100 a pair therefore I have to eat $160-$210 for my greed
-I can't sell them at eBay as so many are there already and no buyers are biting so I'll just keep them for myself
-I hope that at least they would last
