She believes her loan was stolen... not true. We all lost the loan to someone else and she thinks we stole it. Absolutely not true!
This is a tough business with a lot of unscrupulous competition. It's not only wrong but stupid to try to steal a deal from someone who showed potential as a producing loan officer... which she did, as evidenced by the fact of getting and almost closing this subject deal.
One of the main things that we harp on in our training manuals and audio CD's is-- "make your buyer and real estate agent your best freind-- call each of them twice a week to see how they are doing... Because if you don't, you will lose the loan." It is repeated constantly and if you are considering a loan carreer, I implore to follow this advice. A refinance is easy, a purchase requires you being much more personable. WHY?
Because almost every real estate agent has a friend that he gives business to and often gets referrals from. The agent will almost always try to get your buyer to use his "friend" and put you, the loan officer out of the picture. It happens all the time. As we say in the training manual, you must stay in contact with your buyer or they will listen to the agent, (who makes more money if he gets the borrower to use his connection).
Some of our loan officers have taken this to heart and created such strong relationships with the borrower that when the agent tried to get them to switch the borrower told them if they hear that again they'll get another agent. Others, due to either lack of heading this advice or a lack of interpersonal skills, lose deals.
This was a tough deal, we got an approval, and then apparantly the real estate agent told his "friend" where the loan was approved, what type it was and convinced the buyer to use them.
The loan business is a tough, competitive business that is not for everyone. And it appears that when this deal fell, it was easier to blame us for stealing it than acknowledge that it was simply lost.
She had apparently created enough of a personal connection to the borrower and agent that they felt bad about using someone else, (which is why they were "evasive" with her), but not enough of a connection to close it with her.
As to leads-- I don't send them if they are not asked for. Probably due to the bad taste that she understandably had from this loan, she apparently did not feel the need to ask for leads.
As to feeling that the CD's and training materials were insufficient... All I can say, is I wrote the manuals and included all the information that I wish had been provided to me when I got in the business over 20 years ago.
ALSO-- We've brought on experienced loan officers that thanked me and told me that they learned in their first week, more than their last company taught them in a year.
The bottom line is I'm proud of what we've done and what we do. The loan business is incredibly lucrative, but it's not easy. It takes persistence and the ability to fail-- often and come back for more. It's not for everyone. We can and do provide the tools... but we can't provide these required successful traits.
There are over 100,000 members of the all solutions network. If we operated as this gentleman alleges, we would probably have hundreds if not thousands of negative postings.
First off, the gentleman states that he was paid no percentages since joining. Correct, he wasn't-- he earned nothing because he did nothing. For any who care please see the training site for All solutions network (which, in fact is not the same company as the mortgage company)... allsolutionsnetwork.org It explains how the program works and how under the multi-level program you can get paid. He did nothing! So he earned nothing.
As to the loan program, I won't belabor the point, other than to say the site that clearly states that, and I quote "Your deposit is returned to you only upon the closing of your very first loan" You are more than welcome to look at the site yourself... http://www.affairsoflife.com./officers.htm
We will not send $500 in loan software, training CD's and all of our marketing materials, and manuals to a curiosity seeker, who can then copy all, send it back and ask for a refund. We make this perfectly clear and this appears to be exactly what this person was. A curiosity seeker who had no intention of working. He says he never received any leads? He's right, but he never ASKED for any.
Also, no one said his membership was cancelled, it is free and I certainly never mentioned anything regarding no refund on the deposit due to the expiration of 30 days-- Again, our site makes it very clear that if you are not serious, don't bother because "your deposit will only be refunded upon the closing of your first loan"

WRONG COMPANY and there was no fee.

As a manager of CFIC mortgage, I oversaw this recruiting program in which the deposit is refunded on the funding of their very first deal. In this case everything including leads, Training CD's, manuals, scripts, and hours of phone training was provided. This gentleman eventually decided this was not what he wanted to do for a living-- as soon as he realized that the loan business actually required effort.
He then requested a refund of his deposit even though he had already taken advantage of our training, leads, manuals, and still had all of our materials in his possession. Following is a direct quote from our maketing materials...
NOTE:
We have no sign up or application fees. However, there is a $175 deposit required on the startup materials. Realize, we don't want your money-- we want your commitment. We've found that if a person can't commit $175 for a new career, they won't commit the time and study required to become proficient in this business. We don't want you to waste your time and quite frankly, we can't afford to have anyone waste ours. Remember, this is only a deposit. We don't want your money-- we want your commitment. Your deposit is returned to you only upon the closing of your very first loan.
In spite of the time effort and money that we invested into this indivdual, he, as so many others, decided that it was easier to complain and blame others than to actually follow through and commit to a new career.
Bruce
