A few weeks ago I had a pop up on my screen saying that I could enter a competion to win a holiday. On Friday Sep 10 I received an early morning call from America from a Johnothan Hayes from All Seasons Travel and Resorts.

He said if I was sitting down as he had some wonderful news to tell me. He said that out of 25 countries I had been selected at random as the winner of a fantastic holiday. He gave the spiel about 21 days holiday featuring Florida, the Bahamas, Orlando, Mexico, Universal Studios, car hire, boat cruise ect. Naturally I was excited.

He read out the form I had filled in on the internet and said was it right that I would be using a visa while on holiday. I said maybe but I usually use cash. He went on to say that there would be a small charge of $898 USD and that I would be responsible for my own airfares and food and drinks.

He said that his company was able to give these holidays away by asking people like myself to just commit 90 minutes whilst in USA to hear about their time share. I said that was ok by me.

He then asked for verification could he have my visa number. I told him that the card was in my husbands name and he said that without the number he could not go ahead processing the holiday. He suggested that I go get a bank statement to get the number off it. I was still quite excited about the whole deal so I did get the statement and gave him the number.

He then said he needed the number on the back on of the card as well. When he said that I felt that something was not quite right. I then said that I wanted to see the brochures before commiting to anything, he said I had 30 days to pay.

Whislt I was talking to him he must have been running a credit check on my visa as he then changed his whole tone of voice and said it appears there are not sufficient funds in the account and could I transfer some from another account. I said I couldn't as it was my husbands account and he said when woud be a good time to call him and I said the next night.

He was supposed to have called on Sunday but as yet he hasn't called. After reading the stories on this site I am glad that there was not sufficent funds available as I am sure he would have taken them out. I have never given my number out before and never will again.

I think there should be a law about this sort of thing and they should not be able to withdraw payments without authorisation. We need to tell everyone about this to stop it happening to some poor unsuspecting person.
