I -read with interest the introduction of a website which pays writers for their news stories. After going to the webpage, there was no indication of any specifics of HOW the program worked. Simply a link to twitter or one of the new social networking black holes. There was offered the option to use an email to register. The important red flag was the operational specifics and fee structure and rules were not at all indicated. The ignorant user was being asked to REGISTER first and ask questions later, which seems to be the standard by which sheep are being led to the slaughter. Provide all your personal information and perhaps you will get to read how to earn a few cents. not bucks, but pennies or perhaps one penny. . Now for those with no self esteem and no sense of privacy, the approach of "trust us" might be acceptable. The internet, however, is the perfect place to scam.

I decided to do a bit of investigation. Though Allvoices will not tell anyone on their page the fee structure or specifics without registering, there was enough data on the internet to see the scam. Anyone ignorant enough to sell their work for nothing or next to nothing deserves what they get. People seem to be so eager to publish a blog or an article in a different venue they have absolutely no sense of privacy and they trust all the jerks who invite them to the slaughter !

-so someone else is going to get rich by publishing your work !
-check out a different report of the Allvoices scam.

http://blogs.journalism.co.uk/editors/2009/05/11/allvoices%E2%80%99-payment-scheme-for-citizen-journalists/

-The juciest part of the story is the website and BUSINESS is owned by a Muslim who has taken advantage of the great American Land of Opportunity to provide what is advertised as a social network for news without the decency to pay the writers properly. 911 was bad enough, the Taliban were bad enough, but Americans are not stupid enough to hand over top rate writing for nothing. So now, America, the social networking and blogging addicted kids are working for a Muslim.
-check it out

http://industry.bnet.com/media/1000854/amra-tareens-allvoices-bottom-up-media/

-so the 15 minutes of promised fame has now been reduced to 15 microseconds.

-why is everyone so eager to be heard when they have nothing to say ?

-why do people want to read articles on a regular basis (what Allvoices calls fans, which is a requirement in order to geet paid) from a person with no writing experience, no credibility in any field and no public accountability ?

clearly the group of attention deprived 10-50 year olds who litter Twitter
are so desperate to be heard they will take a penny for ALL their thoughts. Their is a pervese sense in it: if one of their thoughts is worth nothing, then ALL their thoughts are worth nothing. -Perhaps they are setting the correct value on their words after all !

Allvoices is not what it claims to be

AUTHOR: Jerry Utterback - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Curious--You are mistaken when you say that Allvoices doesn't list any payment policy, because they do.  They claim to pay -twice the industry average-.  Since you don't seem to care if you get paid or not for your writing and reporting, it should be no big deal, but their advertising is false for any person who wants to actually get paid for their time and effort.  You have to promote your own work on all the social networking sites in order to get page views.  If you don't get page views, you don't qualify to get paid.  The page views have to add up to a total of $100 pay level, because they only pay people at that level.  It could take a very long time to get there, but their advertising makes it sound like such a good deal and they are all about making it such a great experience.

Allvoices doesn't care who writes for them.  They will take anyone with a pulse.  There is no application process.  So, of course--the quality of writing is pretty much --you get what you pay for.  They talk a good story to attract writers, but it is all about their bottom line.

For anyone considering signing up to write for Allvoices, you should check out the articles and comments on them.  Do your homework and decide if you just want to write to hone your skills along with a bunch of other inexperienced writers.  If that is the case, than Allvoices is for you.  If you want to be surrounded by quality material and get paid a decent part time wage, move on to another citizen journalist site.  There are plenty of them out there and they all want the same thing--as many writers as they can get--for as little in return as possible.

I had personal reasons to stop writing for Allvoices back in February, but I have kept tabs on the goings-on and watched a lot of drama play out. I can see that Allvoices did not have the best intentions for the writers.  They had some good ones, but they all dropped out.  Even the readers who used to log on just to comment have gone away.  Too bad.  Allvoices had the chance to stand out in a crowded field of so-so citizen journalist web sites, but they blew it.

This Report is Racist

AUTHOR: blobby - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Can anybody say Racist?  The second story he posted is a glowing report of the woman's history, past, and what she's doing.  Every angle I look at this website from seems to report it as a great place.  I can't find anything besides this racist report that even points to anything close to this place being deserving of a report here.

Instead I see someone ranting about this start-up because the person running is is a Muslim.  And that's just wrong.

I admit that I have not been at this site long, so I could be wrong. I have been in various businesses all my life. It seems as though this person has sent in a report and thought they should be paid for it right away. When I first signed up for this, it said you would get paid if picked up by someone. I didn't get that they would pay you for anything you send them.

They don't mention a pay structure because there is none. If it gets picked up, you get payed base on what ever that entity is willing to pay. The way I understood this, I could write all day and not make a dime. This isn't a union job where someone is paying you by the hour. It takes writing something the purchaser thinks people want to hear.

I have written letters to the editor for years, and not been payed anything. I figured if I had a chance to get payed i would go for it. I was never promised anything from them. If I decide at a future date that it's not worth it, I will quit. For now I put my opinions  out there, and maybe get paid and maybe not.

If the person who wrote this wants a guaranteed wage for doing this, he or she is in the wrong place.
