I applied for a job position and was told that I would need to send $39 for application processing and would be sent materials to complete application and was told the $39 would be refunded. I was ripped off by American Careers. After waiting almost a month for my materials, I phone the company that I was applying for and was told that was not their process to apply for a position at their company.

I was ripped off while applying for a specific job position. I was told that I needed to send $39 application processing fee to them and the $39 fee would be refunded. I have found after the fact that their is no such company. American Careers is a scam.

Peace

AUTHOR: Robin78 - ()

POSTED: Thursday, May 08, 2014

Bottom line is that consumers like myself pay for the help not for a job.  Do what you wish, but American Careers helped me to obtain employment.  It takes effort to get  a job, a job is not something that you can buy.  The assistance that I got far exceeds any money that I paid to American Careers.

Peace Out

War and Peace

AUTHOR: Giselle - ()

POSTED: Friday, April 25, 2014

If you scoured the internet and printed off every complaint about American Careers and made it into a book, it would be the size of War and Peace.  You send your fee and then you are either ignored or you are emailed information that is free all over the internet.  These people have NO connections with any airline or airport. No airline works with them, there is no affliation!  Save your money and apply directly to the airline or airport you are interested in and don't give these people a dime! When you are looking for a job, you are looking to get paid. You should never pay for a job or for help to get a job. This just shows how desperate people are to find work.  Any time you have desperate people, you will find others ready to take advantage of that desperation.

American Careers Helped Me

AUTHOR: Ry Man - ()

POSTED: Friday, April 18, 2014

I too, applied for a postion, several infact, after serving in the military for the past 8 years, I felt the need to move forward with new career goals.  I had no idea of where to being my search.  I came across an ad for American Careers and was immediately taken in.  I called the hotline number  212-629-1777 and also visited their imformative website.  I found allot of information and did my research on the company.  I thought that they were a scam too, I found many reports on here such as this one that I am responding too, but I also saw responses from Yvonne Foworth, she added in more information that I didn't have, a phone number to contact her.  I called into American Careers, I got a voicemail, but left a message.  Within a couple of hours a guy named Jim called me back and explained all of the ins and outs of American Careers.  Never once was I told that the 39 dollars was for application processing.  What I was told is that the 39 dollar fee was going to pay for the career councelors...I was told that if I was unable to obtain employment then the fee would be refundable.  I am satisfied witht he help that I have obtained thus far from American Careers.  BTW:  I had my materials within 5 days from the time that I mailed in my information and payment to Baltimore.  I was never led to believe that I was going to work for American Careers, I was told that they would help me to find employment with the airlines (not the airport that I am reading so much about on here).  You weren't ripped off, I believe that you are confused.  This is a great company, you should call them so that they can help you to get employment with the airlines.

Peace out...

Hello Applicant,

My name is Yvonne Foxworth I am the processing department manager.  I would like to take a moment to address your concerns.  The $39 dollar processing fee is just that, it is to process your information.  We ask for that fee to pay for our career counselors.  Our refund policy is clearly stated on our website which we recommend all of our applicants to visit.  We place the website in our ads as well as on our career hotline.  American Careers supplied you with all of the materials that you would need to get hired as well as the assistance of a career counselor.  American Careers is a real company and we have helped many to find employment with the airlines. Please call me so that I can help you to obtain employment.

Sincerely,

Yvonne Foxworth

A Proud Consumer

I had seen many advertisements for American Careers.  I called the (443) 898-9990 hotline number and listened to what was offered.  No where in that hotline message did I hear that the $39 fee would be refunded if a job was found for me.  This is how things worked for me.  First, I called the hotline, and then I purchased my money order, sent it to Baltimore, and withing 7 days I had an email in my inbox.  I was given an applicant id number and a number to call for furher information (718)690-7056.  I called the number and was set up with my career counseor James.  He was a former pilot and very easy to work with.  Very informative about how I should dress, what questions I need to be prepared to answer and made me feel very comfortable with what I was going to encounter when interviewing for the airlines.  I have interviewed with 2 regional carriers and 2 major carriers.  I am awaiting word on if I got any of the jobs or not.  I have been given allot of informative information that I never would have gotten on my own.  That alone was worth the processing fee for me, but what I was told is that if I was unable to obtain empolyment that is when the fee is refundable.  The terms are also listed clearly on the website which you are asked to visit when listening to the hotline.  If there were no such company as American Careers then I wouldn't have recieved the help that I have gotten.  In my opinion American Careers is not a scam.

I was told that the $39 fee was a processing fee, in turn I was sent materials and an application. I was given first hand help via the information that was sent to me to prepare me for the interview process, I was also assigned a career counselor, Joe Preston.  He was very helpful to me.  I too, was told that if I was unable to obtain employment with the help of American Careers that the processing fee was refundable.  I didn't have that problem because American Careers helped me to find a position.  I would suggest calling 718-690-7056, and speaking with a career counselor.  American Careers is a helpful company and is far from a scam.  Please take the time to call, I am sure that someone there would be willing to help you.
