When I started with this company it sounded like a great deal. They were offering plenty of magazines that I was interested in. So I started paying for my magazines and without delay they started coming in.

The magazines that were coming in were ones that already came with package. The other magazines that I was suppose to receive I was to choose from a list that they would send to me. Along with this list I was to receive a free gift, a watch.

After not receiving the list after 2 payments (2months) I called and asked to cancel because I was paying for product I was not receiving. During the phone call the woman on the phone said that not receiving the list wasn't grounds for cancelation and she would resend the list. She also insisted that there was more to my reason for wanting to cancel. I told her that was unacceptable and that I would cancel the card in which they were charging.

She said that if I did they would send me invoices for each payment that I owed and a new list. Then I received a letter stating that they would send me invoices on my account but no invoice or list came with it.

About 2 months after not receiving any invoices or a new list but countless phone calls on how my account is pass do I wrote them a letter stating what had happened and that i wish to cancel the account and all charges be erased. I received another letter stating that I should call customer service and that they we could come to an agreeable conclusion.

Talking with another customer service represenative I told her what the company has done and then I demanded that my account be canceled an any money owed dismissed. She told me not to tell her how to run her company and hung up on me.

I called them back and asked to talk with the manager of the customer service department. Once I got ahold of him I told him what I was suppose to receive and what I was receiving and even the situation with the invoices and the list and I told him that I wish to cancel the account. I even explained to him that maybe I received the list the first time but threw it out but they were suppose to send me a second one with invoices. After not receiving either I found it hard to beleive that I even received the first list. He said he would personally put the invoice in the mail but that the whole situation was still not a reason for cancelation.

Now my account is with a collection agency and some of the magazines are still coming. I'm still not receiving everything that was discussed. If this company was smart they would cancel my account now. If you pay for 1 year, monthly (12 payments) and you are supppose to receive magazines for 5 years that means every payment is 5 months of magazines. I paid twice and which is 10 months. I'm not asking for a refund just a cancellation of the account and the rest of the charges. But 10 months is approaching so now Im lost on what to do other than go to the Better Business Bureau and report the incident on sites such as this. But, my last step will be an attorney.

SO FRUSTRATED-Need Help!!! THey're a bunch of crooks, liars and thieves!!

I just want to say that I can't believe what's going on with this freaking company. I won't get into the details b/c I have been in the process of writing them a letter, along with submitting a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission, and I'm just so livid with them. I got a letter telling me I owe them hundreds of dollars, so I call the number and talk to a woman who tells me back in 1999!!!!!!-I 'agreed' to these useless magazines. It's freaking 2004 now, obviously this stupid company is scrambling around doing whatever means possible so that they don't go out of business. Why else would a company come after you 5 years later, never mind the magazines I never got. If they thought I received them, why didn't they bill me then???? I want to know what course of action people like us have against this company? I do not want my credit report going down the tubes from this bull, but I refuse to give them what they want. THey're a bunch of crooks, liars and thieves!!

Consolidated media services is STILL in business

Today on Febuary 3 I was called again after I thought I had them off my back. I was also convinced this was a great deal in June of 2003 and today they are trying to bill me for $133 and they said this was last payment I refused to pay. Well I called the number that was on caller id back(I was surprised it was even listed because it wasn't a while back 8002267356) and they asked me my account number (yah right like they told me) well I told them my zip code and name and said I owed over $500, and wanted me to pay the 133 or all of it today. I told them the lady said I was on my last payment to see what they would say and said that I missunderstood it. Which she did say it was my last payment. Before I was done talking to the man I was transfered to some checking personal and asked to pay it in full. I refused and they told me they would just keep calling me. WE seriously need to do something about this company. Please e-mail me if you have any legal information I can use

I was employed with Consolidated Media Services for nearly 5 years. As of September 2003 they have filed bankruptsy and closed their doors. Yes, you have been scammed. Good luck!

My account with CMS was sent to a collection agency

Yesterday night 12/1/03 I submitted a report on this web site and also filed a complaint with the FTC and the BBB(Federal Trade Commision, Better Business Bureau...www.ftc.gov, www.bbb.com). The next morning I called the collection agency and tried to tell them that I will not pay until the FTC and BBB do their investigations. The guy couldnt believe I was refuting the charges.

He said he had me on 2 recorded conversations and I requested those sent to me along with any paper work and after some more conversation he asked me if I am refuting the charges I said of course and I will not pay anything. He said thats fine and that he is sending the account to a Finalization Company. Along with that he also explained what I owed for the 5 magazines that I agreed to. I asked him to name them and he named some of the magazines I was receiving.

Then I asked him about the other magazines that I was receiving and he said those were not on my account. Well I told him that CMS had lied to him that I have been getting more than 5 different magazines and I still have them to prove it. He is still sending it to the finalization company.

I know he was doing his job but why would that company want to deal with CMS when they are planly lying to them about their customer with outstanding accounts.

Now I am sending a ceritified letter to CMS telling them the actions I have taken and I am requesting all paper work and recorded conversations regarding my account.

And everyone should help this site out (make donations so these *!$*&$^%&& don't win).

I was about to give up until I saw read this site and found out I wasnt the only one. And it also showed what steps to take. I feel much more confident now this will finally turn in my favor. Keep you all posted.
