hello...im writing in regards to the cottages at wellsbranch...an apt community in north austin tx. this report is to expose the behind the scenes activities of their management and leasing staff. ill start from the beginning, i met my boyfriend who was currently an assistant property manager for the cottages. a few months down the road he resigned from that position and we moved out of state. things didnt go as well as we planned and found ourselves missing austin. we didnt really know where to go and as many people know, finding an apt. in austin can be very very hard. my boyfriend and i had lived there for a short time and the apt. was under his name. there was a cleaning bill that he needed to pay and settle with the company but no one had contacted us or mailed us a bill after we left.
upon returning to austin we contacted the apt. manager to see if there was an apt. available since we were familiar with the area and knew the staff. there was an apt but we would have to stay in the guest suite until the renovation for the apt. was complete...(week to week and 1/2) we agreed to accept the apt. however, shortly after moving into the guest suite my boyfriend received a job as an apt. manager with a great company. great news huh? so we thought! the management staff and leasing staff made it very clear their distaste in him all of a sudden and it wasnt long that he was told he could not occupy an apt. in the community any longer but i could. so we were to be separate. we agreed to try to make it work, him finding his own place while i rented at the cottages. i was asked to sign a lease the day the apt. was ready in which i did. i then was told that this was under the stipulation that my boyfriend was not allowed to occupy the apt. at anytime. i agreed however puzzled why there were so insistant on this....i later find out its because he was making more money in his new position that both of the people now currently employed there.
still, was willing to let it all go and try to avoid the office staff. the first red flag i recieved was when i signed the lease i was denied a copy of it.....few days later still denied a copy....they stated it wasnt effective yet...shock to me! i had allready moved in!!! so i had no paperwork proving it was my residence or anything to back it up!!! SCARY!!! a few days after moving in i met my boyfriend at a nearby restuarant, after dinner he wanted to stop by and see my puppy...wouldnt ya know it i was told the next day by their leasing staff that i would more than likely be evicted because my boyfriend had been seen on the property at 10pm the night before...WOW!!! he neither left the company in a bad reference nor did he perform any illegal act or violate any laws!!! but less than one week i was facing being put out due to a PERSONAL dislike!!! WOW!!! if that isnt a red flag for a bad company i dont know what is!!! very upset i immediately called my boyfriend and told him the situation, he wanted me out of that apt. feeling it was unsafe and unstable!!! boy was he right!!! i was willing to break the lease and deal with the legal consequences to have the peace of mind over this petty drama!
i later moved out the next week. we are very happy now and have relocated. several weeks have went by and we recently ran into the manager and leasing agent at an apt. trade show...(all apt managers and leasing consultants network and meet with material vendors for apt. comm. to recieve business) we did not interact with them and kept our peace....however, the week stay in the guest suite should have been billed to my accnt. of monies owed to the company...however it wasnt. the manager was forced to pay it or loose her job for an unauthorized stay....i had no idea since none of this appeared on my final bill from the company. the apt manager then proceeds to send her husband over to me in front of clients,staff and the likes to begin personal threats on my life in front of everyone!!! shocked because i have never met the man and neither has he met me...i quickly called my boyfriend over where he tried to remedy the situation. they refused to accept a peacable offer and the personal threats continued!!! we were both shocked by the ghetto fabulous way they were representing their company (small and very run down) and even worse, approaching a former resident.
this event prompted us to call the company the next morning. the "owner" of the company stated it was strickly personal and they have no say so in their apt. manager,leasing agents and staffs behavior outside the office!!! WOW!!! however, we were not suprised since the company is extremely small and does not hold much professionalism to their name. had this been any other company, the apt. manager would have been terminated immediately for outrageous and threating behavior towards a former resident. no questions asked!!!
SO BOTTOM LINE, this company does not opperate under professionalism,respect or decency. i would definately beware of this company....several times in the clubroom you would over hear their leasing agent make grotesque comments towards residents,threaten eviction of residents simply for their personality!!! MAJOR RED FLAG!!! we are not done however, will are in the process of contacting housing authorities concerning this matter... bottom line, this should have never happened to a former resident!!! and for that fact, such a ghetto run down property should not have been attending a respectable function for respectable apt. managers and staff. me and my boyfriend are currently in a GREAT company and very happy!!! so this is to warn anyone seeking a property with mosiac residential.....you will not be protected and will have to fight like crazy to prove their illegal practices and discrimination!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
