The maltese I sold and sent to Melanie was in perfect health and was checked by a veterinarian prior to leaving. This is required to ship an animal over an airline. The maltese was sold with no health guarantee. There was simply the health certificate from the veterinarian stating the maltese was healthy. Melanie sent me an e-mail before I sent the maltese. She wanted to know if the puppy was free of ticks and fleas becasue she had bought another puppy that was infested. I can only assume that the maltese I sold her got sick after being around the other puppy on top of the stress of a flight and going to a new home. I did not feel it was my responsibility to pay the vet bills that were due to someone else's poor decision to put a healthy puppy in the same home as one that was infested with fleas and ticks. I would never have sold or shipped a sick animal to anyone. The maltese was up to date on all vaccinations and deworming.
