I called for a free estimate from Empire and when the sales rep arrived he was pushy and would not listen to my needs.  He said the price was only good for 24 hours because the carpet was stored locally and they needed to move the carpet.  I signed the contract and gave him a check for $100 to get him out of the house.  I told him I wanted to talk to my husband and I would call by the end of the day to confirm the installation or cancel the contract.

I called back (his cell number) within a couple of hours and could not leave a messae in the voice mail box because it was full. I tried 3 more times and then finally called the 800 number.  I cancelled the contract and told them I wanted my deposit refunded.  They told me it would take 15 days to get the check refunded.  That was on June 12th.  I called back at the end of June and was told the check was being processed and should be mailed in a day or two.

I called today (July 11) and told them I did not have the check.  They said they would request the refund again and once again I would get the check in 10-15 days.  I asked to speak to someone else and was told they would request that someone call me back from the local office.  I asked for the local office number and was told they could not give it to me.

I am sure I will have to call again and probably threaten some kind of action to get my money back.  On side note, I had the same carpet measured and quoted by Lowes and the price was 1/3 of what Empire was going to charge.  I would stay away from this company.
