  • Greensky Bank 1797 Northeast Expressway Suite 100 Atlanta, Georgia USA

Greensky Bank I was given a loan from The Greensky Bank in Atlanta, Georgia for a Home Improvement Project and I told them to cancel it. The interest rate was at 19.99%. But the way it was set up on $4900 was five payments of $81.83 was going strictly to interest. When the bill arrived my wife made the payments not knowing this account was cancelled. After the five payments there would be 91 payments @ $103.10 with a 19.99% interest rate. I was furious when I received the new payment notification when I had cancelled the account. Atlanta Georgia

This all started on October 15, 2014, when we attended an invite about having insulation installed in our attic and the result would be a savings of 85% each month on our electric bill.  The demonstration by the salesman, Larry Wages of SEI (Scientific Energy Improvements - 7095 Will Robbins Highway - P.O. Box 362- Nettleton, MS 38858- 662-963-7444) showed that in the winter your thermostat would not drop below 70 degrees and in the summer your home would remain cooler without the air conditioning coming on so often as the heat in your attic was protected by the insulation.

After the demonstration, Mr. Larry Wages, came to our home and told us that his company would instal SEI-100 Insulation, SEI-25 Water Heater Jacket, 2 SEI-38 Water Saver Shower Heads and a SP-150 Power Box at the power box in our garage.

We were told that the SP-150 Power Box was going to cover any strike of electricity to the home which would cover all of our appliances old or new in the event of a power hit.  He said if it hits and one of your appliances goes out call me and I will send someone immediately to check out the appliance.  If it can be repaired we would cover that.  If it could not be repaired we would pay you the market value of the appliance to purchase a new one or one of your choice.  This sounded like a very good idea.  I agreed to the program but told Mr. Wages we did not have cash to pay for this project.  He assured me that he could get me financing.  He dialed someone on his cell phone and put me in touch with Greensky Bank.  They said they would call me back at my residence in a few minutes.  Mr. Wages left and said he would have the crew out the following day to start the project.

About an hour later Greensky called me back at my home number and told me the financing was in place and that it was set up as follows:  First five payments of $81.63 would be interest only on the $4900.  Beginning with November 2014 and ending March 2015.  Then I would have to pay 91 payments at 19.99% interest on the $4900 for five years and the payment would be $103.10.  I called Mr. Wages immediately and told him to cancel the project and I had told the bank to cancel the funding.

Mr. Wages returned immediately to my home and took his contract and wrote the following.  Five payments of interest only of $81.63 and then beginning in May 2015 payments of $81.63 only on the $4900 with no interest at all.  He assured me he would follow up on the deal, and when he returned to Mississippi would send me a letter confirming the new contract.  He did send me the letter confirming the payment structure.

The crew arrived the next morning, placing the insulation in the attic and left.  I never signed the contract and I never signed the finish project.  I was skeptical.  When the first bill arrived my wife made the payment.  She did this for five months and then contacted Mr. Wages by email telling him the five payments were made on time and when was he going to advise of the new payment plan in place?  He responded telling my wife that I needed to fill out a Greensky Contract.  I began to feel like I had been had.

To top that off the one work crew guy returned to check on everything and my wife said to him why was the garage not covered?  It is freezing out there.  He said oh it was not priced in but I can cover it for you for $200.  He did the job and my wife paid him and he left.  When I returned home and she told me of this I was furious.  I said I feel we have been ripped off.

My wife contacted the State Attorney's Office by letter and explained our dilemma.  We met with the State Attorney and his investigator. She had all the documentation and a letter to Greensky that the account was fraudulent because I had cancelled it from the beginning.  We were relieved of further obligation to Greensky and the account was closed.

BEWARE:  Do not use Scientific Energy Improvements out of Nettleton, MS or Greensky Bank out of Atlanta, GA. The money paid to this bank was:  $511.23 and they will not return our money.  The five interest payments were made online and the one payment of $103.10 was made by check.
