I live in Longview Texas. i purchased a 2002 mitsubishi eclipse in 2002. The salesman talked a real good game, which that is what he is supposed to do. First of all i called back to get my license plate and asked for my salesman and they told me he no longer worked there.

He talked me into no money down and 0 interest rate which sounded realy good at the time. Whisch this is what they call their diamond jack advantage plan. i repeatedly asked him is this a lease or will i straight out own the vehicle after 5 years. He swore to me i would own it and nothing would be owed at the end.

I got home and reread over the contract and it was not what i thought it was. I called and talked to the sales man and he assured me that it was not a lease, but they had to type it up that way so i could do the diamond advantage plan.

So i called the finance company and they told me it wasnt a lease but i would owe a balloon payment of roughly 9000.00 at the end. But they assured me that i would have three options: to refinance and keep my payment no highger than it already was or i could give the vehicle back and pay for the extra milage, or i could trade it in at the dealership.

If i had known that this was the scam that i would have gotten i would never had purchased a vehcle from them. I want everyone to know what kind of people you are dealin with. Beware they will tell you anything to sella car and then when you call back your salesaman has either quit or been fired. You dont want to deal with liars and cheaters.

I hope something comes of this scam they are doing.

Smart Buy

AUTHOR: Karl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 30, 2007

GM offers a Smart Buy which is similar to your Mitsubishi Diamond Plan. These are not leases but offer a lower payment because of the Balloon payment at the end. The car buyer can exercise the three options that were outlined in your contract. The buyer is also subject to additional cost if he drives more than a specified number of miles or if he damages the car. Next time read the contract BEFORE signing it at the dealer's. You can probably also refinance the car through a credit union or bank and then you can pay off Mitsubishi and be out of the Diamond Jack Plan.
