December of 2004 I purchased 2 Heys 40" duffel bags from downtown luggage that were advertised as their most durable product and came with a 5 year Heys warranty.

Within a few months the cross strap of one bag and the shoulder strap of the other pulled out. I contacted Heys International, http://heys.ca, and they instructed me to contact Heys USA there US subsidiary.

Heys USA did not respond to numerous emails/phone calls over several weeks. I then contacted Downtown Luggage, downtownluggage.com, in hopes that their relationship with their supplier would result in the replacement of my defective luggage.

Downtown Luggage issued an RMA number and I returned the merchandise to Downtown Luggage only to receive my package back "return to sender." Downtown Luggage and ewholesaleluggage.com, formerly Heys USA, are both located in Miami, FL.

As such, I am led to believe it is a collaborative fraud. Heys USA has 3 unanswered fraud complaints with the Better Business Bureau. I have subsequently left two messages with Heys International that have gone unreturned. Stay away from this fraud ring!!!

HEYS International and HEYS USA

If you go to the HEYS International website (just Google it), there is a link to HEYS USA. I have copied and pasted what it says:

USA Customers please contact Heys USA Group

This certainly makes it sound like the 2 entities are intimately intertwined, not to mention that the same luggage and logo that is featured on the HEYS International web site is the one featured once you select HEYS USA. This is cheap luggage period. One zipper on one of the inside pockets of my 27 inch suitcase fell apart after one usage and I can't get any answers in any of the phone numbers listed on these various web sites. If anyone from HEYS is reading this, contact me if you have the courage to stand behind your product, cheap as it is.

Wow what a over the top response

I myself am having issues with Heys USA with the quality (or lack of) their product.

Your response to this gentlemans complaint was really over the top with your threats. I personally would not want to do business with any company that has a hot head such as yourself in charge of resolving issues.

No wonder that poor guy sent such a glowing response to you. The guy had a piece of luggage that fell apart and it was easy to confuse the two companies because either by design (which I doubt anyone can find out) or by happenstance you have similar names, then you threaten  him with your lawyers. What bullies you are. I understand that you have to protect your good name (if in this case you have one) but the first thing you do is threaten an individual with a law suit who just made an honest mistake is way over the top.

If you feel that I have defamed you with this response please have your lawyers contact me. I can't stand bullies like yourself.

I commend Heys Int for their prompt and proffessional rebuttal to this RipOffReport claim and BBB filing. I no longer have any doubts, nor should you, that this is indeed a reputable manufacturer not to be in any way associated with Heys USA which has numerous unanswered complaints with the US BBB. Provided below is Heys Int's response to the BBB filing.

This 'claim' has nothing to do with HEYS INTERNATIONAL, but instead has to do with HEYS USA - which is a separate company on its own, with different ownership.

HEYS USA is NOT a subsidiary of HEYS INTERNATIONAL, as you have incorrectly claimed.

We do not take into account, nor can we be liable for any claims, disputes, or queries made against HEYS USA - as HEYS INTERNATIONAL is a completely separate entity from HEYS USA.

I ask for a letter clearing our 'record' of any such 'claim' as HEYS USA is NOT a subsidiary of HEYS INTERNATIONAL as you have incorrectly claimed. This matter is taken very seriously and your errant claim borders on defamation of our good standing name.

Regardless of your incorrect claim towards HEYS INTERNATIONAL, I have contacted the managers at HEYS USA and they have assured us that they will look into this matter, and try their best to resolve this situation. But we will not be a part of such a resolution, as we have no significance in this case.

Your matter whether resolved or not, has nothing to do with us.

Heys Warranty Issue

Heys USA, Inc. would like to appologize to Daniel in TN for the inconvience of this matter. I over see all warranty claims and I have never recieved any notification that he has contacted us. The Customer Service Representative which had taken his messages should have informed him of our warranty policy and given him the steps to take in order to do a warranty claim with us. If this information was in fact given to Daniel the claim was never made or was misdirected as it never reached my desk.

We can resolve this issue and get the piece repaired or replaced. From the brief description given about the extent of damage this is an issue that is covered under our warranty.

On our website heysusaluggage.com we have our warranty policy clearly stated under the "Contact Us" link. If Daniel could please review that information or contact me directly at jennifer@heysusaluggage.com or call 1-866-439-7872 ext: 108 we can get this issue resolved quickly.
