Most people already know that Kirby vacuums are over priced but after going through 5 vacuums in my lifetime, the words lifetime warranty pulled me in. I wanted to pass this vacuum on to my son so he wouldn't have to go through 1/2 dozen vacuums like me. 1st disappointment is the bags. $15 for 2. They are no different then the bags for other vacuums that cost $2. We have not had this vacuum 3 years when an internal part broke in half rendering the vacuum useless. The bill was $60 because it is a wearable part. No one mentioned about wearable parts when they sold us the vacuum. I'm sure that everything that breaks on this is going to be a wearable part. No reason for the broken part. We vacuum 2-3 a week and we don't even wear our shoes in the house. And I don't understand how it "wore". It BROKE in half. Big difference. So the way I see it, they need to stop saying "lifetime warranty" because there is not. With all of the complaints against this company, I don't understand how they continue to do business and not be slapped down.

Kirby Vacuum Warranty NOPE

I guess I expect everyone to be truthful to my face when they are presenting something. Limited warranty was never part of the conversation because I would not have bought the vacuum. Lifetime warranty was mentioned more than once and he knew that was a big thing to me. Now I'm stuck with an $1800 vacuum that is going to continually cost me. Still no explaination about wearable versus broken in half. Should have been replaced free. I was vacuuming mild amount of cat fur off of a car seat. No reason to have broken in half. It's my mission to make sure everyone knows. Kirby needs to be put out of business. I've read so many reports and complaints that I can hardly believe the state attorney general hasn't come after Kirby.I have yet to hear a good story. When people spend that much money, they should at least get someone to call them back when they have a problem.

We apologize for any frustrations surrounding your mis-understanding of the Kirby Home Care System Warranty.  

 

Your Kirby system has a 3-year limited mfg warranty.  Then there is the "lifetime Rebuild Program" available to you, the original purchaser.   The 3 year warranty covers any parts deemed defective due to materials and/or workmanship.  Labor is at the discretion of the independent service center/business working on your system.  Expendible items such as your bags, belts, brushroll, wheels are not covered under this warranty.

 

All this information is fully explained in the Owner Care Program Booklet you received at the time of your purchase.  It is also available on-line through www.kirby.com

 

We understand your concern about the prices for your disposable bags.   You may also purchase them direct from the factory by calling 1-800-437-7170 or through the same website.   

 

In regard to purchasing bags at Wal-Mart or on line from anyone other than The Kirby Company.  The bags from Wal-mart do not fit properly and will affect the overall use of your system.   The individual that posted a response, was not correct in some of his/her facts.   Unfortunately, we have heard too many times from too many consumers that have purchased those items and other bags from other on-line places of their total dissatisfaction and in some cases, receiving wrong product. 

 

We always suggest using Kirby authorized products.    If you would like to speak with someone and have the warranty again explained and/or you need another copy of your Owner Care Program Booklet, you may contact our Consumer Relations Department at 1-800-44-8586, M-F 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, EST.

The warranty...

The warranty only covers the motor.  I know this because I had to have the same repair done on my Kirby a few years ago.  The piece that breaks is made of plastic and will eventually wear out (you can even buy the parts from eBay and do the repair yourself).  Also, the patent on the Kirby bags has run out.  You can find replacement bags at Wal*Mart for just a couple of bucks each (I think the last time I bought them, it was 3 for $5.00).  If you insist on Kirby brand, again, eBay can be your friend.
