My grandma had some credit cards from some companies. We got into some bad financial difficulties, and neither of us had money coming in, because we both lost our jobs, and she got behind on her bill. Kohn was told time and time again my grandma had lost her job and was unable to pay her bill at the time, but would when she could.
She was upset, scared and worried about getting the bill paid and tried everything she could to get loans to pay them, but was turned down and we didnt know what to do.
Knowing the above, Kohn still threatened and harassed them day after day. Calling and calling at all hours of the day. Sending and sending letters.
It got so bad my grandma got sick and had to go to the hospital from the stress. Finally Kohn sued her and we were forced into having to sell their house. The only house she ever owned and lived in for 12 years.
That is absolutely terrible those high and mighty big-shot lawyers, living in their fancy homes, make their money suing, threatening, scaring, and harassing people, and can get away with doing that to people. Putting liens on someones home and making them sell their house and scaring, threatening, and harassing them.
They dont care what they do to people to get their money or if the person has to sell the only home they had for many years in their life to pay the bills when there is no other way for them to. These places dont understand some things happen beyond a persons control, which are no fault of their own, like financial problems, losing their job, not having money coming in, or bad luck.
Those lawyers should have to go through that, be scared, homeless, have to sell their house, and have no where to go, and be sick to their stomach and see how they like it. Its terrible they can get away with doing that to people and they shouldnt be.
They should not be able to get away with doing that to people and is terrible that they can.

Those in Glass Houses, Don't Throw Stones....
AUTHOR: MyRants - (By The People)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, October 23, 2016
Hello -
I know this posting is from YEARS ago, but I just ran across this in doing some research for a friend of mine and just wanted to add a couple thoughts. For the other 3 people who posted responses to the original report, this is mostly for you....
I believe it was a fair assesment that, while the original poster thinks this is a "rip-off", and your take on the situation is that it's not, I believe is a fair one, and might be correct in this sitatuion, however, that's as far as I would go without knowing the ENTIRE situation and history of these people and how they've gotten to where they are. Going on, in what I feel is a condosending tone, and basically saying they should lose their house because they didn't have a problem spending the money they got in the first place ?? Seriously ? Typing that out I'm getting even more upset with that type of comment. Again, you don't know what situation these people are in, or have been in. That money just very well, might have put food in their mouths for an extra night or 2 while trying to figure out where the next couple meals are going to be coming from, let alone being concerned about keep the house that they live in. I don't think any of the responders here have been in that position where you're gonna be living on the street the next day, and you don't know where your next meal is going to be coming from. Becuase if you did.. I don't think you would have commented at all. If you haven't been, or been close to people who have, then I would say count your blessings, and maybe be a little less judgemental and a little understanding ... and know that you DON'T know everything, especially about these people or about their predicament. And think about how your comments are going to be taken by these people when they read them. People who are desperate, and facing such life events, I'm sure appreciate reading the comments that basically reflect the attitude, well, you should be living on the streets its your fault. Ok, this is getting a little more prechy than I wanted it to, but like I said, just typing it out, it was getting under my skin more and more. And always remember, fortunes can change pretty quickly in life. One day, you can find yourself walking on the other persons shoes pretty quickly.
While, I do kind of agree, that this probably isn't a rip off, and by law, they are doing what they need to do to collect debts. However, I do believe that a lot of their practices are very PREDATORY... they tend to seek out those that are most vunerable, and with very little resources to defend themselves, or have the means at their dispossal to do the necessary research to understand their right fully and completely. What is even more aggrivating is that probabaly a portion of these banks and lending instituions that are hirining these predatory "law" firms are the same banks that we bailed out of their crisis how many years ago with Billions and Billions of tax payers dollars, and now, taking assesment of the bailout package, that a majority of those banks viewed that money recieved through that as basically just a "bonus". Excellent. And What do we get in return ? Higher interest rates on loans, harder to meeting requirements to get lending, predatory banking practices, such as those just recently haunting Wells Fargo, more taxes, more State, County, City fees, price adjustments and tax hikes.
We need to remember who founded this country, and return it to who truely owns it. We the people. The governement and these instuations are here for the the great good and for the people, not the other way around.....
I hope these people were able to find their way through their ordeal, and found some brighter days....

WHY
AUTHOR: Resty - (U.S.A.)

Forgive me for being so bold as to ask.........WHY do you keep posting these rip off reports that arent rip offs?
You've targeted several companies in more than one city and state....claiming how unfair this or that is. Yet, in almost your opening line you state that you or your Grandmother fell behind and stopped making payments etc. People you owe for whatever reason have a right to the money you borrowed and subsequently spent.......even if you dont like it~!! You being "scared, homeless, have to sell their house, and have no where to go, and be sick to their stomach and see how they like it." is not their issue nor should it be. You borrowed/spent the money......now pay it back..even if its a little at a time.
I dont understand how you can default on ANY of your payments then come here and badger the company(s) because they have the audacity to want it back. Come on now......if the situation was reversed you'd be yipping too.

No Rip Off

As long as the lawyer follows the FDCPA, and there's nothing in your report indicating otherwise, they can do what it takes to get the money owed to them. Losing a home can happen when you lose a job, and there's no money coming in. You may not like it, but it is not a rip off.

So what's the ripoff?

Bills were owed and you couldn't pay them. You had no trouble spoending all that money. No one made you sell the house. You could have just paid the money and got the lien lifted.
