I bought a 2006 freightliner classic from lone mountain truck leasing in july of 2010, i just found this site is why im just now posting this. When i bought this truck there were other drivers there buying trucks so i looked them all over quickly and chose the best looking one based on ripped seats, peeling paint and scrapes on the fenders.
I went to the salesman told him the vin i had chosen, he paused, repeated the vin like a question, i said yes, he shrugged his shoulders and said ok. Next step was getting a dyno test and a dot check, because my truck was goin straight to minnisota for a company dot i asked if they could do a minnisota dot. the shop manager said they were very busy and assured me the truck was in good dot shape and wrote a note on my dot inspection waiver saying that when i get to minnisota if my company finds any dot problems lone mountain will take care of it, then he signed it. [continued below]....
..... The next day when i got to minnisota my company found about $950 worth of repares needed to pass dot, lone mountain and their shop manager at that point had no clue what i was talking about and said i had my chance for an inspection and i waived it. Within the first 2 weeks i had another $1800 in repairs and found out the reason my clutch was acting funny was because the springs in the plates were all broken. Lone mountain let me make my 1st payment 5 days late but charged me $70 in late fees. Since then i have spent thousands and thousands in repairs.
The truck has also been in a serious crash at some point, i have found numerous things with the truck that prove this. Most were shown to me by mechanics doing alignments and things. I was told my right side frame rail is pushed backward 3/4 of an inch and is twisted. He showed me on my rear ends a pile of alignment shims on one side and none on the other, the huge difference in the hood to cab gap from side to side, the saddle ears on my fifth wheel are bent where it was hit and pushed to one side really hard and some of the crossmember bolts or hucks are missing or broken. This truck goes thru tires and door latches like crazy, i cant get the doors to line up right to shut correctly. The stainless cab and sleeper skirts are missing (brackets still there), one of the step box lids doesnt match, exhaust elbows are dented underneath, this truck was the only one with stainless fuel tank covers (wonder whats under those???) sides and floor of my sleeper are bent and wrinkled, my bed doesnt sit square on its base, the vin on my drivers door panel doesnt match the truck, i can tell it has been painted because someone did a poor masking job on the factory antenna and muffler brackets. I am posting some pics also.

If lone mountain had bought the truck wrecked, then sold it to me without knowing it would have been one thing, but after the salesmans response, the write a worthless little note and sign it trick, and the fact that they didnt lift a finger to check my claims or make this right i know they knew. What really makes me mad is that they know they put me in a tight spot, but if i stop making payments they will repo it, sell it to another guy, make even more profit, and destroy my credit and everything i have worked for and not care at all. These kinds of people are real trash, they are a very big part of the problem with the world today.

Im not sure who you are or how this is any of your buisness, but i was standing there when he wrote that on my waiver and i know what he told me. I agree that what he wrote was so vague that it wouldnt mean anything in small claims court and im sure it was meant to be that way.

As far as you claiming he wrote that because he wanted me to tell him about the repairs before i paid to have them done..... really??? That makes no sense, if they arent taking responsibility for the repairs why would they want to know about them, i know some people who lie and  stretch things, but i feel kinda dumb even responding to something like this.

On that third paragragh, i read it perfectly fine.... it says they wouldnt guarantee the truck if the truck was no good...... its a pretty simple sentence, if your having trouble just read it a little slower. The part about the new tires, and the dot/dyno guarantee is true, noone will deny that, but the part about the warranty is false, and the guarantee is only as good as the character of the person making the guarantee. Read a little closer before you waste anymore of my time and make yourself look dumb again. Everything i have posted on this site is true, and is not stretched, twisted or exagerated, and if you feel you must keep commenting on this issue which you know nothing about, then hopefully you can stop acting like a teenager and make sure your posts are also true, and not twisted or stretched. If anything your comment helps my case, and its kinda funny you dont realize that.

Take a moment and actually read what was written on your paperwork...

That single sentence never says that lone mountain trucking had to repair your truck, nor did it say that they would pay for any repairs...all that that single sentence says is that you need a MN dot check and that any and all repairs needed need to be reported before they are completed.

Beyond that the contract that you signed clearly stated that the truck is AS-IS and has no warranty.

As to your response to the company about how in their third paragraph they tell you that the repair work is guaranteed, you would be incorrect in your reading of this.  The entire point of that particular paragraph is that such a warranty would make no business sense and thus there is no such warranty.

What a surprise.... no response and still no answer to my question.

I recently found a little black box wired into my truck under the dash. Box says "xirgo technologies", i googled the company and found out the box is a gps tracking device running off my trucks electrical system. I was never told about this and dont see anything about it in my contract. I am just wondering if its even legal. I have a pic attached with the device serial number blacked out.

P.S...... still waiting on an answer to my question

In your first paragraph you said the trucks are sold as-is..... third paragraph you said you spent $2000 on a warranty...... which is a lie and which is the truth???? If the truck has a 3rd party warranty i was never told about it.

I fully understand your policy about not paying for labor at other shops so i dont need it explained again. You keep saying that to avoid my question. So again.... my question is: If your policy says no outside work will be done then why did your maintenance manager tell me because he was so busy that day he would pay my company for any dot required repairs that were found when i got there, then wrote it on my dot waiver and signed it, and is it right that you didnt honor his promise??? You can answer this question now, or as usual repeat your policy to keep avoiding it and prove my post right. I have pics of the waiver attached.

Your third paragraph says you gaurantee the truck to pass a dot..... yes, you said you gaurantee it, signed that gaurantee, then when you had to stand behind the gaurantee you gave me the run around, then quit takin my calls...... do you even read this stuff or are you just playing dumb? Noone ever offered to give me my money back or repair my truck at any shop.

I realize you think im just a dumb hick trucker, but i dont think you are out to get me, and i dont have a conspiracy theory.... i think you are like most buisness people today, your goal is to get my money in your pocket any way you can, then do as little as you have to after that point. After i give you my money and sign you have the choice to do whats right, or do only what you must do, we can see your choice and it reflects the kind of person you are.

It's tough for us to make it more clear than we already do. These are used trucks and they are sold AS-IS. We do allow inspections at the third party shops of the customer's choice and if anything shows up we are happy to fix it AT OUR SHOP. This is stated on its own sheet of paper when the lease is signed, and is told to each customer repeatedly during their closing.

I'm guessing you were signing on at Dart. Had you called us before doing repairs there, we could have sent you to our shop in Eagan, MN that is about a mile away from the Dart Terminal, or we would have been happy to do the repairs at our Iowa location. However, we aren't just going to have an open checkbook to every shop in the country.

Your conspiracy theory that we were out to get you is pretty ridiculous. It wouldn't make sense for us to put $3500 worth of new tires, $2000 worth of warranty, and guarantee a truck to pass a DOT and Dyno if the truck wasn't any good.

Feel free to email me or give me a call if you think I'm wrong.
