I recieved a letter on November 29,2008 from the Lottery,Resources Management & Payment verification stating that i have won $248,000.00 from ACTIVISION/BLIZZARD for a sweepstakes.
Enclosed in this letter was a check from U.S. Bank, N.A with ACTIVISION/BLIZZARD as the account holders in the amount of $4985.00 and the letter stated that i was to cash the check and send $3975.00 through moneygram as payment for the taxes on my winnings.
The letter also stated that i am to call MRS. Lisa Sanders @ 647-833-1363
I tried to contact the U.S. Bank, N.A by phone with a number i had found on the internet while doing research on my own and they told me that they do not verify funds or tell me if the check was legite. The number 800-us banks
I am also trying to contact the ACTIVISION/BLIZZARD with the number i also found while doing my research @ 310-255-2000

Trust me on this one. First clue- taxes paid for winnings. Second clue- Canada.
It's a scam. You can stop trying to verify it.

You're wasting your time making those telephone calls. It's a scam! If you deposit the check with your bank, eventually it's gonna come back as a fraudulent check and then you're gonna have trouble with your bank.
Don't be an idiot-you didn't win anything and you especially didn't win anything from any sweepstakes you didn't enter.
Cash or deposit the check at YOUR peril.
You might consider reporting this scam to the FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted police. Both law enforcement agencies have websites where you can file a complaint for this crap on-line.
