Mercantile Bank commits fraud on its customers. (Their parent bank is Carolina First)
They hold cash deposits on checking account till any debits come in then process debits first, making account overdrawn. Charge orverdrawn fees of $36.00 for each debit. Doing this depletes all your deposit money and you are left owing them hundreds of dollars more in overdraft fees.
This is an illegal practice by this bank. The federal authorities have been notified on this.
When account holder complained to them, they said "Well we have to make money somehow."
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRSCUMSTANCE OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH MERCANTILE BANK AND IF YOU HAVE MONEY THERE CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY.

Did the act of processing credits before debits become an illegal act?
Can you point me to the relevant law?
