I wanted to purchase a palm wallet from Buxton. I went on to their website and decided to take advantage of the 2 for 1 deal where I would only have to pay an extra $7.95 shipping charge. I was offered all kinds of extra "deals" but declined them all. The total for my purchase should have been $38.85 including shipping. This includes $14.95 for the two wallets and $7.95 times 2 for shipping. Instead they charged me $14.95 for the first wallet, $9.95 for the second one and $31.80 for shipping. I was asked to input my credit card information before I was shown what the absolute total would be (which should have been a warning sign but this had been advertised on T.V. for over a year so I trusted it) and I was not shown the total until the very end but by then it was too late to change anything. I immediately tried to contact Buxton (a.k.a. Direct Marketing) but found that the company has made that all but impossible. It was then that I searched the internet and found that there are dozens of complaints against this company accusing them of overcharging and charging for products that were not ordered and the main similarity is that it was very difficult if not impossible for customers to contact them and once they were contacted the customers were told that nothing could be done to stop the charges and that they were out of luck. I was left with no recourse but to cancel my credit card so that it would not be charged. It really angers me that these complaints go back as far as 2 years yet this company is still operating. The T.V. stations that are airing these commercials should be ashamed of themselves and should be forced to take more responsibility so that unsuspecting consumers are not being ripped off. There is no excuse for this!!! My advise it "Don't order stuff over the internet that you've seen advertised on T.V. unless you've first checked online to see if there are complaints against them!
