The **** family is outraged by the way mexico paradise getaways has treated us.After everything we where put through to comply, and have got nowhere.

We sent in everything they requested including but not limited to the $100.00 refundable security deposit and copies of our passports. At this point I don't trust them, and would just like to get my deposit back in full.

Mexico Paradise Getaways communication is not that great, but the trip is worth it in the end

AUTHOR: PRBigO - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 09, 2009

received my Mexico Paradise Getaways "free trip" from Global back in August of last year for purchasing into their program. I chose 3 different dates and 3 different locations and sent it in with my $100 deposit. In early Septemeber I received an e-mail letting me know my certificate had been received and they asked me to fill out a short "travelers profile" basically, it went over my interests and asked about my age and income level. I submitted the travelers profile several times. I didn't hear from the MPG people for a while, but in October I received an e-mail requesting me to fax copies of me and my wife's passports and drivers licenses, which we did within 24 hours of receiving the e-mail. I received an e-mail back that our passport copies were illegible, so I used a different fax and faxed them in. Again, for about 2 months I heard nothing, but my dates were not until this year so I wasn't too worried at this point. In December I received the taxes required e-mail....

Thinking this was a free trip, I was a little worried that they were asking me for more money. Relunctantly, I paid the airline and airport taxes because there was a term on my certificate stating this was my responsibility. I sent my $300 check to the Branson office (from calling customer care, I am told this is the corporate office and this is where all major business is done). About 10 days after I sent the check in I received an e-mail letting me know it was received and they were processing my dates.

My first dates were in January, so I figured I just wasn't going to get those, but I still had dates in February and in April. I was contacted via phone on January 10, 2009 to "go over" my February travel dates. I spoke with Doug Becker of the Orlando call center. My dates were scheduled for February 16th to Cancun, departing out of Detroit. The only catch was I had to attend a 90 minute presentation of the resort while I was vacationing. This didn't sound too bad, after all I was getting a great deal on the trip, even with paying the airline taxes. I agreed to the presentation, and I was e-mailed the airline cancellation policy.

I was a little hestitant to send in my credit card information, but I filled out the form and faxed it in anyways. This "cancellation policy" basically states that once MPG purchases the airline tickets, if I cancel the trip for any reason, I will be charged for the tickets. Since I had no intention of cancelling at this point, I faxed it in like many other MPG guests do. I was told by Doug that I would receive my airline tickets and hotel confirmation via e-mail about 7 days prior to my travel.

So, I should receive the airline tickets February 9th. I didn't hear from anyone after I spoke with Doug, and I was a little worried about traveling since I did not have tickets and I had already requested the time off work. I did not receive the tickets on February 9th as promised, but I did receive the e-tickets on February 10th. We had a morning flight out, with a connecting flight in Atlanta. The hotel confirmation came on February 12th. I was confirmed for the Solymar Beach Resort. Finally! We had all of the information we needed to travel. We went on the trip on February 16th-19th and we had an extremely good time. The staff was great, the food was great, and the tour wasn't really that bad at all. They provide you transportation to and from the touring resort and the timeshare people aren't pushy like most other Mexico timeshare companies. We took the tour in the morning and had the rest of my second day to enjoy ourselves. We even went on a tour of the Xel-Ha which was great.

Overall, the communication could have been better from the start, but MPG came through in the end. Me and my wife had a great time in Mexico and were definitely glad we stuck through the process and didn't cancel out. It was definitely worth the time and effort we put into the certificate. If you are worried about the travel process or lack of communication, stick with it. I know there are a lot of bad reviews, but I'm happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the trip and would do it again.
