Of course they denied this, but after contacting the Department of labor, State of NJ, I have decided to file a formal compaint against NFI for due monies. In emails from a Chief of Claims in Trenton, Nj I was told irregardless of what the computer says i should be paid what I worked.
I am one of only hundreds of former drivers who worked for NFI and got ripped off, and of course they will fight this tooth and nail, otherwise if it ever became a Class Action Suit, it would cost them millions of dollars over the last 30 years or so.

I would like to get a group of former drivers and current drivers from NFI locations from different states for the purpose of possibly filing a lawsuit in Federal Court regarding NFI's illegal payroll practices nationwide. It would have to be a group large enough for it to be worthwhile for an attorney to get involved.

For a driver, that can mean losing 150 miles on a trip between California and Texas. Some truck owners receive a dollar a mile. That means they are $150 short.
Who can afford to give away $100 or so every 3 days?
This is all part of the reason that people aren't willing to drive trucks. For a truck owner, there are a lot of expenses they have to pay. Even for a plain old driver, they still have to give up a lot to do the job. You're away from home for weeks at a time.
I don't mind if the fleets use a mileage standard. But they need to use one that is accurate. With today's computer mapping technology, and the GPS units available, there is no excuse for wrong numbers.
I used a Delorme map package on my laptop. The thing was accurate down to 10 feet. I can live with losing on 10 feet. I can't put up with losing 50 miles.
