In October 2008 my husband and I moved into our new apartment and thats when the problem with National Grid started.
Our landlord faxed National Grid all the information they needed to transfer the power into our name on 10/01/2008. However National Grid never transfered the power. Instead they sent my husband a letter that stated he was denied for power in his name because he owed a $464.05 bill in Glens Falls, New York.
Come to find out they had put my husbands social security number with another mans name and sent us his past due bill. So as you can imagine my husband called National Grid to find out what was going on.
After that was taken care of we recieved another letter from National Grid Dated January 8th, 2008 now mind you we didn't move into our apartment until October 2008. This letter was a Notice of Termination.
The letter goes on to say that for your conveniece the power has been left active at this location but will be terminated due to your failure to apply for services at this address.
So once again we had to call National Grid only to be told that this was our fault for not calling to correct the problem!!!
National Grid told us we had to pay for the 3 months that they never transfered power to our names. Well we recieved the bill it was over $900.00. We called National Grid immediately they told us we had no choice but to pay this bill. I was outraged along with my husband.
We recieved our seconded bill in Febuary 2008. For one month our bill for our one bedroom apartment was almost 600.00. Yes you read that correctly!!! We used $900.00 in 3 months but used almost $600.00 in one month?
If you have had a similar problem with this company please let everyone know they are taking advantage of people and Personally Im tired of being ripped off!

its awful that you husband had his SS# and another persons mixed up, but honestly, you used the service from oct 08 to jan 09. you lived there, you used it, you pay for it. you were never shocked that you were using electricity and never recieved a bill?
