In my case I probably would have had to MOVE ON - but on to the bank filing fraud papers and getting my money credited back. Thank goodness a rip off health organaization named United Health Benefits took half my money but did it via a THIRD PARTY bank called Banktec - I contacted Banktec as I could not get the company and after a few pohne calls and e-mails they SENT A CHECK TO ME - they did not try to get my new account number as I changed my bank information immeditely. The bank had been working on the "fraud" application for two weeks when I got my money - gosh knows how long it would have taken them to get the money back - but I would have taken them to the Supreme Court - went public in all the newspapers I could find, etc. to make them give the money back.

These REMOTE AREA BANK DRAFTS are the ruination of feeling secure in your checking account - they can get that information from unscrupulous companies who sell your information to the scam artists when you had a legitimate check sent to THEM - hard to prove who did it - even someone working with your utility company could be doing it... Their best trick when they have the account information is to CALL THE ELDERLY and read it to them, have them write it down, then later in conversation - ASK THEM TO REPEAT IT ONE MORE TIME TO THEM bam THEY GOT the voice on tape giving the number. May there be a special place in hell for those who rip off the elderly, the disabled and the weak. I put my number and my mom's on a do not call list and she is getting CALLS FROM FOLKS reading the OLD ACCOUNT NUMBER TO HER and trying to get her to read it back - she won't do it now plus she doesn't know her new account number.

Protect your parents and grandparents. It's hard to go after the scum as they don't answer their e-mails, letters nor phone calls. you can't even report them if they give you false information either so wahts the point of the DO NOT CALL LIST - they call anyway.

My bank states they cannot give me any information about the HITS on the old account - and I told them they were enabling the scam artists by not giving out the information or at least turning it over to a federal agency when it's a repeat hit. I also tell them NO MATTER "you have to pay me back if they get through anyway" and there is silence on the ohter end.

The banks used to be your friend - THEY ARE NOW YOUR ENEMY in this area bank draft situation - WHICH LEGISLATORS allowed - shame on them too for not forseeing the havoc that could be created by not making banks ensure THEIR ACCOUNT holder's signature/approval is on each check. Years ago, if your signature looked strange or a check was cashed for a large amount by someone, the BANK WOULD EVEN CALL YOU TO CONFIRM if it was legitimate...

Techology only hurts most of society and when the power goes out, GOD HELP US ALL.
