People DO NOT waste your money on magazines when the economy is doing so badly. You could be the next one's to loose your job.  I am outta NME and much happier now that I am not asked to shove magazines down grandma's throat. Lets vote the idiots out in November 2010 - and you decide who the idiots are.  I know I am not voting for anyone who has been spending billions and trillions of dollars that we do not have.  Ya can't fix the country by spending trilliions borrowed from China on krap like turtle tunnels and studies on the sex lives of fish. 

What does your mother and her illness have to do with the company? Seems to me, as a good daughter you would be taking care of her finances indefinitely is she has dementia. It's only the daughterly thing to do.

We don't know her medical records, her age, and her living conditions. She wanted the magazines and we did not discriminate.

Trust me, I understand your concern and I mean it with the utmost respect when I ask, When you're mother goes out by herself (not sure if she does) but if she does, do you tell her what time to eat and where to spend her money?

If she didn't want the magazines why did she select them and pay for them?

You should not be upset with the company because we have nothing to do with your mothers condition. It is unfortunate, but she chose the magazines and she chose to pay for them.

Do you have a power of attorney over your mother? If not, you are the one acting illegally. If you do, simply tell the customer service at the national magazine exchange. They won't try to contact her anymore.
But if you do not- you are not legally in a position to dictate what she does or doesn't do. Maybe that doesn't fly with you, but if a court determines she can act out of her own interests, you have to get a grip on reality: maybe she likes the magazines. Even if there's no kitchen where she lives, maybe she likes to know about new recipes and such. I don't have a boat, but I enjoy reading about boating. Please get a life.

for all you that asked for an update on whats going on with new company and location, two words it sucks!! im still an employee because of economy and hard to find a job at this time. Its horrible there, it has been three weeks now since we moved to the new building and you would think everything would be up and running before they brought us all over there. system keeps crashing, transfer doesnt work to get a verifier, have to do manuals,everyone running around like crazy people, im not into the big wigs names but robert moreno I think thats his name has been there everyday early in morning all red faced because how screwed up things are. Its been a mess. seats are too close to each other, too noisey,and way too many lights that hurt your eyes. oh and vickys fat a** is still there and kathy too. One good thing they dont have system set where they can monitor you so I dont waste my time doing rebutalls on people that I know dont want them and move on, also you cant check on how many hrs you need because thats not set up and they have screwed up pay checks since we been there, You dont want to work here!!! I remember Chuck (a years ago) and Eileen but I did not know you AC or John or Sam Salvo or this Elaine S person. They were using some other name then.

I think NME was a horrible place to work. The cafeteria food was good and you could smoke outside on a nice covered patio (a newer addition). But magazine sales is a horrible job the way they run it and I think management is awful.

I see on the Willis STein web site that they no longer own SDP NME - guess willis Stein is gone now.

I need to find a job soon but I DO NOT want to wrk at NME again.

Are the class clowns gone? Is Brady gone? How about Vicky Stiedel and Kathie Margartondo and Robert Moravek? Is the janitor Chris King still there? How about E. Scanlon - is that a real person? Is it true ........... ?

One thing I liked was that the food in the cafeteria wasn't too bad.

Here is some additional information.

NME's sales have decreased to $81 million.
Agora Marketing Solutions (AMS) refers to NME and NPE as "divisions".
Employee count is down to the 900 range.

The principal owner of AMS appears to be Blackstreet (4800 Montgomery Lane,
Bethesda, MD 20814). Blackstreet acquired NME in August 2008 in a debt purchase from Wells Fargo Foothill stating "Following poor financial performance, SDP defaulted on its bank loan and AMS was then able to purchase the debt and subsequently foreclose on SDP".

Blackstreet is concentrating on "... disciplined fiscal policies and flattening of its (NME's) organizational chart..."

That means more cost cutting. Just before the change in ownership Scott Brady the CEO was dropped from the NME web site. Since the Blackstreet acquisition they have added a NEW CFO who's name is Harold Hale. Harold hops around a lot with 4 jobs in 8 years.

Since Blackstreet wants to flatten the organization chart lets update the "who's already gone list".

PS - I wonder what would happen if the ABC (audit bureau of circulation) disallowed advertising circulation credit for the magazines NME gives away free (the bonus mags). Would NME lose the bonus dollar revenue if these are considered unpaid subscriptions? and the advertisers and the consumers wouldn't bare these costs?
