van ru credit corporation called me asking for a downpymt which now has my last four digits of ss number.

nationwide asset services and global client solutions LLC which i just found out their no good which now i have to close my bank account. on this i was trying to get debt free. now i have to do more research now due to this mess up here. bad companies and theives out there. better watch out and carefully do your research out there.

Incorrect about fines.

INCORRECT. Fines are NOT restitution. The government KEEPS all fines. The OP would be better off suing them in District Court if there are provable violations of the FDCPA.

Van Ru is a pretty big collection agency nationwide. Might be a few bad apples and hey, Chase, Bank of America, and a lot of big companies have been fined for breaking the law alla rogue employee.

From what you describe they have broken several laws.

Under the fair debt collection practices act, anything perceived by the hearer on a phone call as harassment is harassment. You have that on them. If you told them to not call you at work and they did they have violated another law, it only takes a verbal to them don't call me at work and they have got to stop calling there. If you send them a letter returned receipt requested and state to stop calling you completely, communicate with you by mail only they must abide by the request , or they have broken another law. If they threaten suit and don't follow thru and do it they have broken another law.

Contact the General manager give them one chance to clear it up. If n.g., contact the Attorney general of your state and the Federal trade commission and file complaints. Any fines will be rewarded to you. They have had problems before , Van Ru, but usually rogue employees trying to make commission and willing to break the law. Follow up, get outa that cair and on the phone and end this nonsense.

The other companies in the beginning of this thread are debt settlement companies. With plenty of complaints against them, van Ru is a collection agencY. It is a general good rule to not give out your checking acct to autrorize debits from your chencking account period. Exception might be electric, or water bill.

Van Ru Credit Corporation abusive practices

I have recently set up a payment plan so they can automatically take out the payment from my bank account each month. They then call saying that they have no record of that information. I then call Mr. John Barrow who claims to be the manager in that office and i tell him that they keep calling me he keeps telling me its a computer error but after I do that it seems as if the phone calls become even more frequent. They call me 3 to 4 times a day when i do try to explain to them that i set everything up they will say thats a lie and that i never gave them anything. They call me while i am at work I told them not to call me. They are even harassing my family claiming to be Westwood College. They are also sending me letters saying "we have afforded to you every opportunity to honor your obligations to our client. This is the last written notice we will send to you before we review this matter to determine whether more FORCEFUL, lawful steps should be considered." that is just part of what the letters say. And they keep sending me the same letter also, when I talked to Mr. John Barrow he kept telling me that they are going to garnish my wages, take my personal property and take my tax return to pay this off. Like i said at the beginning I set up a payment arrangement with them and they continue to ask for even more money. They don't come at you in a non threating way they do not let you speak they lie to you and continue to harass me. They call early in the morning and usually at inappropriate times I have a medical condition that is way more important then this debt they are putting undo stress on me and my family by calling them and making it look like I am an irresponsible person. Nothing i do or say to them seems to satisfy them even when i give them my bank account number. Also when i asked Mr. Barrow to send me something stating that I am paying this debt he told me no which made no sense. Since then I continue to get phone calls and usually they just hang up on me when i tell them i set this all up. This company has caused my health problems to worsen because of all the stress they are causing to me. Even right now as i type this out I get this horrible pain. This stress can and will kill me because it will cause my body to start doing things that are unexpected. I have even told Van Ru about my condition but it seems that human lives do not matter to this company they would rather have a person die then work with them.
