Ive enrolled in this school since I did not want to get GED, but wanted to get a real high school diploma without attending school. I have finished all high school courses in Europe just didnt have a final exams done since I have moved to US. I specifically have asked student advisor if my school transcripts would be accepted and I was told yes $15 dollars fee for transcripts would include translation. I asked same question couple of times and she said that they have students from all over the world and that would be no problem. I felt that she is hurrying me to enroll and was ready to tell me everything I want to hear. She issues me student ID number without me signing any paperwork or mailing in a payment. I dint give it too much doubts since she is student advisor and should be responsible for the information she has provided to me. I was tricked. In about a month I received letter back with my transcripts saying that the translation is neededJ Funny thing. I called the student services and e-mailed many e-mails about this issue. But nothing was done. Customer service representative over the phone told me that this is America that we live at and we need English translation and sorry that student advisor told me that. I have asked for supervisor, but never had a chance to speak to him/her. I have enrolled in to this school based on the false info student advisor gave me over the phone. Nothing was done about this issue Not even apology. By that time I was done with the bunch a courses and ridiculous material that they provide. I have decided that it would take more time to send my transcripts translated and would require more expenses then just to finish this whole course and get my diploma as quick as I can. Every day I have spend in front of computer taking tests writing essays. I have done with all the program in two months just had school electives left. When I have a letter from school asking me to explain how come I am progressing so fast. I was shocked I felt that these people are not interested in me finish this school quick or at all. All tests are open book tests. Except for essays of course. What is there so hard when you have questions right in front of you? In some cases I didnt even waited for course material, but researched Internet to get answers. Any ways I was added another exam as a punishment for progressing too fast, but I couldnt bare this discrimination anymore I wrote (2) letters with my complained. I also told them that I will not take anymore courses neither make another payment until this issue will be resolved: extra exam that is not even in the contract would be taking away, I want to know how my transcript issue was resolved and I will receive my apology from the school. I havent heard from them since. My account is still open and late fees a piling up, which I have no intention to pay them. I told them that if this issue would not get resolved quick I am canceling my contract since I was provided false information upon my enrollment and discriminated. I have saved many e-mail conversations incase I have to use an attorney. People go get GED, dont waist your time. This school is not accepted everywhere- GED is. Thats another lie they told me. Dont waist your money. Research school first.

To much work to be a scam

AUTHOR: Jimt - (U.S.A.)

I enrolled my daughter in Penn Foster HS program specifically to make sure she gets a transcript. I have done a thorough evaluation of this school and found it to be reputable and to deliver an honest course load. The fees are remarkably low and my daughter should finish the entire 4 years worth of work in 2 years...not because it is easy...because my kid is bright and she works at a comfortable pace. She also doesn't have to put up with the insanity of the public school system. Anyone doing homeschooling should consider Penn Foster as an excellent alternative to any other course of study. We have been homeschooling since first grade and my daughter has always tested in the 90 to 95 percentile range on the year end CAT test. Penn Foster is doing a better job than I could and I fully believe they are honest and reputable.

I didn't "waist" or waste my time or money

I went through Penn Foster to get my high school diploma and I don't regret it for an instant.

The reading and written assignments were amusing and kept light so I never felt overwhelmed. Student services was wonderfully helpful any time I had to call. And the fees they told me would come out of my bank account for school - were all that came out. Not a dime more.

Sour grapes against a school because you didn't agree with their methods, that's what I'm chalking the OP's post up to.

I'm in UCLA full-time now on my Penn Foster high school diploma and barely paying for school now because of the scholarships and college funds available to distance learning graduates. If I had gotten a GED, I wouldn't have had a GPA to speak of to go from high school to college. I would have had to waste time and money going to junior college before going into a university. I'm glad I was able to skip that!
