This insurance company had wonderful reviews from me in the past, however, in 2011 they decided to almost double the premium, double the deductible, and start denying almost every claim submitted as well as paying 10% or less on any claim they approved. In the past this was not the case. So, when you read reviews on this company pay careful attention to when they were written. I would NEVER refer anyone to PetFirstHealthcare at this point and am cancelling my policies, which I have had with them since 2007!

Also, be aware that they will look for any reason to consider a condition pre-existing. And although they advertise that they will cover your pet for life if they are insured prior to age 10, that isn't true.

Instead, they will take money from you for a premium for the life of the pet but they will not pay claims once the pet has had a diagnosis of any kind. For example, if you are insured and the pet is diagnosed with a condition, it them becomes a pre-existing condition in the following year and for the life of the pet. And they will go back years to find something that COULD relate to your claim and say it is pre-existing. Again, they weren't this way in the past but beginning in 2011 this is the experience I have had with them. Unless you are simply looking to throw your money away, insure with a different company or self insure. Giving money to PetFirstHealthcare is simply making a contribution to corporate America.
