I came home from work to find two sales men that had already installed a security system in my home that had been aproved by son in law and daughter who lived with me. I was told that the contract was with my son-in law and that he would make the payments, and required a credit card which he did not have at the time, since the system was already on the wall etc.. I had no choice but to give them my bank card number, The Salesmen) then told me since I was the home owner they now needed my signiture approving their system being installed in my home. I signed! my son-in law and and daughter had moved and stoped making the payments and asked me to cancel? not knowing what he signed was a 5 year contract for 48.00!! I was told I could not cancel until I sold my home and transferd or sold this contract to the new home owner, and that I am responsible for this contract for 5 years!! I am on survivors bennifits and work part time just to be able to make ends meet! well today I received a letter from Platinum Protection telling me that emmediate attention is required, I am not protected by the police unless I send them 25.00 to register this alarm service?? so in all reality this is a breach of contract.

I need some legal advice because I have been stuck with this sytem by being bullied and pressured into beliving I was signing a property rights authorization and for the last 7 months I have not been protected! I had contacted the Ogden Police Dept and spoke with the person who handles the alarm registration and I was informed that if I had ever had a break in with in the last 7 months, they would not have been called due to the fact that Platinum Knew that the fee had never been paid and that Platinum themselves would have to come here to help me?? to make sure it was not a false alarm?? well my neighbor could have called the police? I am sure that this is a breach of contract as well as misrepresation and fraud!

the first paragraph states.. company or contractor upon receipt from customers premises system had been activated IS RESPONSIBLE only for endeavoring (To attempt fulfillment of a responsibility or an obligation,to notfy the police. well without a registration fee of 25.00 they cannot honor this contract which I need to get out of from trickery!! Is ther anyone that can help me Please!!

Platinum Protection Deceived into signing an approval for instaltion being the home owner after Son-law had agreed to the service Resoponse

AUTHOR: Platinum Protection - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 27, 2008

At Platinum Protection we are proud of the service and protection we provide and our customers receive. We strive to meet the growing and changing needs of each individual family we serve. In a very few instances we encounter some families that are not happy with the services we provide, or are given misinformation that effects how they view their service.

It is not our intention to make light of, or discredit Joann, but upon reviewing the information about her account there are some important details that were not explained in her report. And others that are misleading.
I have reviewed the information and am confused by her allegations. She claims she was told it was a contract with her son in-law and that her signature was needed for approval. She also claimed that she was not aware of the agreement being for a period of 60 months with a monitoring rate of 48.00 (47.99). Yet when I pulled the contract for review I found that she was the only person listed on the agreement. And the monitoring amount of 47.99 and 60 month terms were clearly stated and even circled, indicating the customer was fully aware of this before she signed the agreement. There was also a survey done over the phone before the system was installed in which all of these questions were addressed specifically. Each question was answered affirming she was aware of the cost and terms of the agreement.

With regards to the permit, it is explained on the front of the agreement that the customer agrees to pay any permit fees. Further the agreement states Customer shall secure and maintain all licenses or permits that may be necessary form governmental or insurance authorities for the continued monitoring and use of the system. She was also asked in a post installation survey, Are you aware that some police departments may require that you register or license your security system with them before they will respond in which she answered yes. Her system was and still is being monitored. However, without the permit it is possible that the proper emergency response agencies will not respond to a call. And just to clarify the issue, Platinum Protection does not charge or collect for the alarm permit fee.

It should also be noted that the customer appeared to be happy with the system and service for the first few months. We assisted her in receiving a home owners discount and also helped her change her payment method upon her request. It was not until nearly 3 months later she called in to cancel her agreement. At that time she claimed her son in-law was the only person who signed the agreement and had moved. It was only upon pulling the original document we discovered otherwise. Even after the attempt to deceive us we still offered ways to assist her by having her son in-law takeover the system and release her from the agreement. Unfortunately we never received a response from her, instead she responded by posting her report.
