I purchased a 4 gig Ipod Nano for my "at the time" 11 year old daughter. The ipod started freezing up after about a year. By the time my radioshack service plan was nearly ready to expire it was freezing up frequently. I called the number on the service contract and got an authorization to return it to the store so they could send it out for repair on 11/09/08. Today is 1/21/09 and I still do not have posession of the Ipod. I have called and e-mailed RadioShack's repair center over the last couple of months 3 times only to receive one response informing me that they would not ship it to my home once it was fixed for their tracking purpose, (Guess they never heard of UPS) and they did not have ETA on getting it back to me either.

I have physically been to the store twice and spoken with the store manager a total of 3 times. I got the "I don't know or care" attitude from her and the rest of the associates in the store as well. I then began to call the number that is on the service contract for help and got none. I first was told that they got a replacement part in that was defective so they ordered another. Later I was told that it was on backorder, only to be told on another call that they had waited a month to reorder the 2nd replacement part.

Lastly, I called the corporate office "spoke" that I wanted a CS rep on 4 different automated menues and then got transferred to the online store only to be put through to a voicemail machine. Called back asked for "help" with service plans, had to give up after 25 minutes on hold again because my hour lunch was over.

So I read the fine print in the contract that states I can call the consumer protection agency if I can not force the terms of their own plan upon RadioShack. The CPA wanted the name of the co. that insures these contracts... monetarily I am assuming. I could not get an answer to that from them. (the contract office) Additionally, they claim no responsibility for my Ipod. The drone on the phone said it is the responsibility of the repair center who will not talk or respond to me or even to them (contract office) in the 2 times they tried on my behalf.

So... today I filed a formal written complaint with the Attorney General's office, and can only hope that the terms of this contract I purchased when I bought my Ipod Nano can be forced upon this self professed irresponsible company. This is warning to anyone thinking they are "protected" by paying more for your item to get the "protection" plan.

Thank you for taking the time to read my complaint.
