Most, if not ALL business's that employ creative bookkeeping get handed
to the sharks at the IRS. I think it's time for REGIONS BANK to go
there...
What I'm talking about only effects the poorer clientele, that
have their account with minimal money in it most of the time. Recently
I had less than $20 in mine. The bank claims they had a HOLD on money
going to an online charge, another online charge came in, and they
bounced it (But paid) and charged me $35 fee. They then PROCEEDED to
bounce (And Pay) the charge they were HOLDING the money for, adding a
2nd OVERDRAFT FEE. If they were HOLDING the money, out of my account,
then that charge was already paid, and ONLY ONE BOUNCED, but with some
CREATIVE BOOKKEEPING, they managed to charge me 2 OVERDRAFT FEES. My
problem is IF THEY HELD THE MONEY, technically it was ALREADY paid and
no 2nd over draft. IF THEY WEREN'T holding the money, then NO OVER
DRAFT on the first one...
THIS IS BULLSHIT, and maybe someone needs to initiate a CLASS
ACTION SUIT. I know I'm only one fee, BUT HOW MANY OF THOSE FEES DOES
IT TAKE TO BE RIDICULOUS.. 28,572 of them = $1 MILLION DOLLARS. Think
that many a week, a month, 2 months?...

They don't go after the poor. The people that are affected are people who can't manage their account. You spent more than you had in your account. Let's say that you had an even $20. As long as you don't spend $20.01, it does not matter how they post transactions you CAN NOT overdraft.
Did you not know your balance when you made the transactions? If you did know then you intentionally spent the banks money in overdrating your account. Your account is not a line of credit, and as such you will be assessed very high fees.
If you did not know then why not? You do keep a written register of your transactions right?
and maybe someone needs to initiate a CLASS ACTION SUIT
- Typical. Just as you don't want to take personal resposibility for your account. You want someone else to take responsibility for the suit. How about getting your lazy rear-end up and filing the suit yourself. Or even better(and simpler) how about taking responsibility for your account. This includes keeping a register and writing down every transaction you make, when you make it. This also includes knowing your banks funds availability policy for deposits. Then, and this is the big one, NEVER even attempt to spend more than you have available.
There will be people who will post here telling you exactly what you want to hear. They will fill your head with thoughts of how the banks are evil, that there are class action lawsuits out there, and that banks are even changing their policies. Because of this you will think that some "knight in shining armor" is going to come down and magically make the evil banks go away and you will get all your money back. Thus making you feel that you don't need to take responsibility for your account. Unfortunatly because of this you will ignore any advise on how to avoid these fees in the first place. But what they won't tell you is that the very few suits that have gone anywhere got the people enough for about 2 overdraft fees and it took years to get to that point. They also won't tell you that the changes in place still won't guarantee you not getting any overdraft fees, especially if you don't manage your account. So you can listen to them(which you probably will) and continue to do what you are doing, or listen to the other people who are telling you how to avoid the fees in the first place.
