I needed a laptop for a short period of time. I did not need to purchase one, it was required for a class. We called several places for rental, most are rental to businesses. Rent-A-Center rented to the general public. I was not happy about the background checks that had to be performed, as we were putting up a deposit that covered the cost of the unit.
We were told the rental would be $25 per month. When we tried the wireless connection at home, the device would not connect and Internet Explorer would lock up the system. Upon closer review of the contract, the actual rental was $100 per month. When we called, they stated, "Yeah, $100 per month." But that was not what was originally stated. We are in the process of getting a laptop that works from them.
Moral of the story: Shame on us for not reading in full what we were signing for. Shame on them, they do not sell what they are talking about. You MUST be aware of what this company is putting in writing. Reputation is of no consequence to them.

We took the computer back and explained what happened, and our misunderstanding of the contract. The salesperson apologized for the situation, we were misquoted by another store. The manager took the computer back and voided the contract.
We greatly appreciate the service provided by Rent-A-Center.
