SPS supposedly purchased our loan about 6 to 8 years ago from our mortgage company who had purchased it from another company whom we found out later the 1 st company had been sued we were never included because they sold the mortgage and we had not made a payment to them. Any way we were doing pretty good until this economy down fall I have called SPS several times to ask for a loan modification cause the interest rate is way to high and have been told we do not qualify or there is nothing we can do. I have called and asked since why they have our mortgage and was told they have investors who purchase loans and that they SPS service these loans for them, but if they are a debt collector how can this be. I asked them since they were a debt collection company if we could come to an agreement on a settlement to pay off this mortgage and we were told we were denied, that we would have to pay the life of the mortgage that was originally done back in 2000. My husband and I both are on disability and have tried numerous times to no avail to get our interest rate lowered, but they send us letters or tell me on the phone that there is nothing that can be done. I would like to know is there any way we could get help or do we have to continue to make payments to them since they are not a bank?
