Skerdlant's Mobil / Lou Skerdlant mobil auto repair rip off

We towed our 1986 Cougar into the shop. We told them that the problem was the catalytic converter(but not sure which of the 3 was the problem)They said the problem was the EGR valve and cellenoid.

While replacing that we were told the starter went along with the profile ignition pickup. We got the car back $577.97 later still not running right.($25 of this was state inspection)After towing it back again, they said it needed a distributor($200 plus another $35 diagnostic fee) We told them no since we were still sure that it was the cat converter(which they never checked
despite our conversation). They insisted we pay the $35 diagnostic anyway which we refused since we had spent $577 and still did't have a car that ran.

After towing the car home, we did the main cat converter ourselves and low and behold-that was the problem. So, we spent $577 ($700 if they had their way) and ended up having to fix it ourselves. I don't mind paying for repairs if the ar works afterwords.

(PS-the car is only worth about $800 as we kept reminding them)
