My husband and I began building a house with Statewide Modular homes. It was a nightmare!! Basically they took our money and never finished the house. They just never showed up one day and never came back. We called and called and were told someone would call us back. No one ever called us back. We had to hire an attorney which cost us thousands of dollars and had to hire another contractor to finish the house because Statewide modular homes refused to do anymore work even though we had already paid for it. They wanted $65,000 more then our contract stated.

This is how Statewide Modular homes makes their money. They tell you a really really cheap price at first. Then after you sign the contract they immediatly start saying "oh, we quoted that to low .. and then tell you that you owe them more. Our first "more money" was $10,000. They said they forgot something in the quote and that to do the piling was an extra $10,000. At first they said it was included but the story changed after we signed the contract and they got their first deposit. After that everything was more and more than originally quoted .. when we refused to keep paying the larger amounts because we realised we had been scammed they never came back to the house and never called us again or returned our calls. BEWARE!! This was a nightmare I don't wish on anyone!! I couldn't believe we were so stupid to fall for this and didn't realized it when we first stated talking to them.

We later found that Statewide Modular Homes were under investigation for consumer fraud for doing the exact same thing to many many people. To our surprise we later saw them on "Harry to the rescue" a local TV show that investigates scam companies and confronts them. The owner just ran away and refused to be interviewed .. they chased his through the parking lot asking why he was ripping all these people off.

It turns up Statewide Modular has many many lawsuits against them and have many different names in the past. They rip people off .. get sued .. then go out of business and start over.

PLEASE BEWARE!! Statewide Modular Homes or Statewide Custom Modular Homes - DON"T GO NEAR THEM. YOU WILL BE SORRY!!

This was such a nightmare my husband actually started having heart problems because of it and had to start going to the doctors. It amazes me these people are still in business. We have found out so many horrible things about them yet New Jersey still allows them to continue ripping people off.

AUTHOR: House - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 18, 2007

As the proud owner of Statewide Custom Modular Homes, it is with deepest regret that I have to take the time to respond to lies posted about my company. However, I feel it necessary to protect my good name as well as the reputation of my company and its employees. We have proudly built a company that is a leader in modular housing in the State of New Jersey, as well as one of the largest modular home builders on the east coast.

The recent statements made about Statewide on 7/28/07(by allegedly different people within 2 hours of each other) are categorically false. Statewide has no customers by those names in any of those towns, and the events alleged simply did not happen. All reports make similar libelous statments about Statewide. Anyone can make an unsubstantiated claim against another person or company, and it is especially easy to do when the psotings are anonymous, as they are in this website. This poster may be an unethical competitor, but he is certainly not a genuine Statewide Customer. The statements made about Statewide cannot be proven because they are not true and the people(if you believe it was more than one person) posting the comments are anonymous and never have to defend their statements. Instead of believing the lies of an anonymous poster on this website, please review the following truthful facts about Statewide that I would be glad to discuss with you if you contact our office:

I read your report and another report filed by another individual. Since I am buying a modular hose from them I was concerned. Here are the FACTS:

I called the State Attorney General of NJ department of complaints in Newark, NJ and found the following:

1) There are no complaints on file against Statewide Modular of Toms River, NJ
2) There are no records of any complaints filed with the AG of NJ against Statewide Modular of Toms River, NJ

I also called the State Attorney General of NJ department of civil lawsuits in Trenton, NJ and found the following:

I went on the Better Business Bureau's web site and found that there has been on complaint filed in the last 3 years that was settled mutually.

MAYBE YOU ARE THE SCAM ARTIST!!!!!!
