I just placed an order with techondigital for a Garmin 260w gps on their website. I received a call soon after the message saying the unit was ready to ship and I just needed to call and verify.

I called William at 1-877-425-9933 ext 205. He told me that I must have forgotten to order the memory card and that the unit can't run without it. I know this isn't true and told him I wasn't interested in the memory card. He then said without the memory card that it would cost me $100 dollars to upgrade and I'd have to send the unit in and wait 2-4 months to get it back every time I upgraded and that I would have to pay for the shipping of the unit. I kept telling him I wasn't interested.

William couldn't stop there ...and then said that the unit was loaded with 2005 maps. Oh BUT that they would ONLY charge me a low price of $50.00 to upgrade to 2008 maps!! When I asked why would I buy a brand new unit with old software? He then cancelled my order and hung up on me.

I immediately called the company back and asked to talk with a supervisor and the person answering said he is in Florida right now. I began to explain the situation and somewhere in the middle of my sentence I was put on hold and then eventually disconnected.

Within minutes, I received an e-mail that said: Due to the product you ordered being out of stock for 6-8 weeks from today's date. We regret to inform you that the order is canceled due to the product being on backorder. When or if we get the product again in stock soon will send you an email to place an order please do not resubmit your order again.
