The prices of movie tickets at this San Luis Obispo Downtown Theater (movie)are certaintly a ripoff. The only real movie theater in San Luis Obispo located in 3 locations is certaintly taking a beating on people's pockets and their ridiculious movie ticket prices.

I wrote to the San Luis Obispo Downtown Theater corporate managers twice, not one response. Asleep at the wheel and the general manager say's contact our corporate managers at our website http://www.themovieexperience.com/cl-contact.shtml
but noop, not one answer. Notice no telephone number or fax number.

Take a look at these prices and how absurd they are:

I am taking this complaint further as the "Movie Experience" is robbing people
their hard earned money. There theaters are so run down that asking for an upgrade is impossible but ticket prices, like gasoline prices accept they don't go down.

Need management, noop, not here, they're too busy reading textbooks, sitting around telling jokes and having coffee in the break room. Yep, the San Luis Obispo Downtown Movie theater is not in the business to feel the pain of people pockets.

Want a discount, how about .50 cents or save $1.00 if you go before 4 pm, oh boy. Save $1.00 but pay huge parking fees as all the locations are sufferred by huge parking meter and parking garage expenses. Noop, that's your problem and coke & candy, lets just triple or quadruple the price, your corn syrup health snack bar. Need gym or coke, you'll find plenty of it on the seats and screens. Floors are so sticky but the seats are genuine noisy rocker chairs and don't worry, kicking seats here is trend. Yes garranteed kicking of the seats but footie's from smelly shoe's or smelly college tennis shoes is a garrantee movie screen blocker. Oh the seating, flat flat flat, big head or large customers, find another seat please. Just like playing the game duck duck goose, your it. Your need to find another seat but watchout, seats are wet & sticky folks. Feet on chairs is accepted and talking all you please here, managers don't mind. Have a complaint, oh Heather the manager will be happy to take you back to your seat and just enjoy your movie. Good job kids! Yes Heather is a certified Movie Experience manager earning a degree in Theater Ripoffurology. Dr. Heather, I have a issue, what do I do? Take a seat, resolution never.

Sound performance, they're specialty, garranteed noice conclusion, featuring animal house with, your favorite guest star, Mr. Blown out speakers!!! Yes Mr. Blown out speakers is a garrantee star attraction for your $8.00, oh sorry I mean $9.00. Yes sounds so real your hear crack crack crack, cell phone, cell phone, text page text page, giggle giggle, kick kick kick, squeak squeak squeak.

Yes Yes folks, the Movie Experience San Luis Obispo is garranteed to take your money and say, come again folks.

However based on this report, the San Luis Obispo Movie Theater and the Movie Experience wil be featuring on other complaint rip off sites on : my2cents.com, complaints.com and entertaimentcomplaint forums near a forum near you.

Have a complaint, forget it no response but take a look anyway:

Dear Managers:

It has been a few days since I have wrote in concerns about the San Luis Obispo Downtown Theater and I am waiting for a response but no answer. I also had some friends who also wrote Movie Experience and complained as well, no answer either. I have spoken to a local journalist and talked about your movie theater, who willing be writing about the ticket prices and what to expect. I am considering of posting my concern on Public Access television and on Youtube.com about the San Luis Obispo Downtown Theater. When someone purchases a movie ticket and they see theater employees studying for a test with one hand acepting cash and the other hand with a book in it, that tells you from the start management is not doing it's job. Kicking seats, noices in the theater, dirty theaters and dirty screens for example when the price continues to go up and up but not one thing is being done with the price. I am informing the media that this is ridiculious what your doing as a business and robbing people for entertainment. I have this ripoff report listed here which shows that complaints can be posted for viewing. I am so dissatified with the San Luis Obispo Downtown movie theater and also the one on Monterey street as well which is even worse (prices there went up twice last year $6.00, $6.50 and then $7.00 in the run down one next to the Fremont).

I am doing you a favor about reporting some problems I see but also the expenses it cost, it is expensive. I am not convinced your company will do a thing about anything reported especially talking with one of your downtown managers, certainty says that things are not going to change. I am asking you to take a deeper look at the San Luis Obispo Downtown Theater and what a mess it is. I have thought about taking interviews outside the San Luis Obispo Downtown movie theater with a friend and my 3CCD movie camara and interviewing movie goers by having them speak their minds about their movie experience. Every year San Luis Obispo has a movie Festival and I am going to discuss it with people about the San Luis Obispo Downtown Theater.

San Luis Obispo Downtown movie theater
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/257/RipOff0257978.htm

I believe that the issue should be heard and people ought to know about the San Luis Obispo Downtown Theater and people's own opinions. If you choose to just ignore the complaints, that's fine but when San Luis Obispo is almost run on a movie theater molopoly from basically one theater or owning 80% of it, the public has the right to know what people are forced to pay and what they are not getting for their hard earned money.

Sincerely,

First response, no reply

Dear Manager

I am concerned on the price increases with your SLO Downtown movie theater. I have seen the prices change almost 3 times in 2007. Matinee's hours changed without notice when we went to a 4:10 movie last year (the matinee changed and was not listed on the paper or internet when the change was made) and were changed full price since night times are too expensive (matinee times are all till 6PM at all theaters except yours). I used to attend your movie theater every Friday with my friends 4 years ago but because of the money ticket prices, we never go anymore.

The concern is the price way too high, even the matinee price is too high; it is hardly different than the regular price (a $1.00). I remember when your theater was built back in 1994 and it has never been upgraded since then. I mean the increases has not changed the theater quality at all such as the bathrooms, the theater seats, the carpets are all very dirty. I look at the screens and there is Coke soda spots on the screen and some gum spots as well; whatever it is, it is visible and dirty. The seats also, you have so many people putting their feet on the seats by kicking them (as the seats are not solid to the ground, they wiggle and makes noises) distracting other guests but also students talking out loud where your staff never secures the theaters with disruptions. I go to the front desk and I see staff sitting around doing nothing to direct a complaint about kicking seats and people talking, one person went out in the theater once, where talking started allover again and your staff never came back to ensure the complaint. I went back and saw your ticket booth staff reading text books (2 women) on the ticket counter like they were studying for class. I felt this place has no manager but when I finally found one, the movie was over. A manager named Heather really did nothing to go out of her way to fix the problem I reported (I mean she just did not take the matter seriously). I also mentioned the prices are expensive and there is nothing being done to improve the theater, she told me that she has no control of that issue. I said to her why is your staff sitting around not patrolling the theaters for talking, feet on the chairs, cleaning the bathrooms, finding things to do when they are on the payroll but they are reading text books and talking. I said who is in charge of that? She had no reply but said well have someone go out and ask people to stop talking. I mean only one time someone can out to look at the present theater for about 2 minutes and left. I was offered nothing from your manager and I feel she was not doing her job.

The price you pay really is not consistent for what you get. I feel the price is a rip off and is not the greatest place to see a movie anyway (because the screens are small). Personally I think the price needs to come down where you need to try to convince people to go the movies again (the visitation is a lot less than it has been for example, the price is effecting people to go as I have asked people the same question). I think there needs to be a serious change with your movie theater such as hiring a new manager and trying to deal with the current poor economy to ensure movie goers to go again. The price needs to come down and you need to hire less staff but more productive. When you see staff sitting around, not taking their jobs seriously and the manager is part of the problem, then something needs to be done.

I feel the price of the ticket is really worth $4.00 for a matinee and a night cost is worth $6.00 for example but $7.00 for a matinee and $8.00 to $$8.50 is outrageous. When I see a movie at your theater, I feel I spent too much every time. I would rather drive to another theater and than visit the Downtown SLO Theater because of how unhappy I am with your theater. There are places you can see movies for under $5.00 (night or day) in San Luis with new seats, new screens and are also cleaner.

Please try to make some changes as San Luis Obispo is not a rich town. When the price is right then people will go more often but if you keep increasing again and again, you are ultimately hurting peoples pockets. You should try a new strategy for the SLO Downtown Theater and make some changes by keeping the prices down if you cant upgrade anything then you should do something about the price and the service.

Sincerely

M

Wow, are you serious?

This is in response to M's rant. For someone to make such radical personal comments in there article, I find it cowardly to attack people and include people's names and use their emails and then be too afraid to use your name at the end of you article. The reason you are not getting a response to your letters it's because you sound mentally unstable or at best a completely unreasonable person. Ok, it costs money to go to the movies. Well it's entertainment. If you don't want to pay then go home and watch TV. As far as the movies cleanliness, I have gone to this theatre perhaps 20 times with family and friends and can't remember it being dirty. If people are pushing your seats have the balls to tell them to stop. If someone sits in front of you that is taller than you how is that the theaters fault, move. I think it would be best for you and humanity if you would please stay home and let people that want to have a good time have a good time.

To the Fremont theater movie experience

I am making a change in my decision about the Fremont theater movie experience on my ripoff report I left about them and I want to say I apologize for making this report. While they are not perfect as businesses have problems as the Fremont theater movie experience did but nobody is perfect. I am not a fan of RR and wished I never used this site for making complaints on businesses. Since they do not allow authors to remove reports I am left leaving a sorry note to the Fremont theater movie experience. At the time I made this report and was in outrage over the increases of theater tickets and should of cooled down and researched where the money comes from in the theater business, it turns out the theaters are the ones that are severely struggling and aren't really making any money, its the movie production companies that are hurting them. I have turned the opposite and have been going to the movie's more than I have ever have and sincerely regret posting this report on them because I love the Fremont theater movie experience and the people that work there. I feel bad and I would to say I apologize to them for making this report, if I could remove it I would.

I am sorry I made this report, please accept my apologies as I had a change of heart and want to say I am sorry as much as I think they may feel the same way.

To the Fremont Theater themovieexperience

I am making a change in my decision about the Fremont Theater themovieexperience on my ripoff report I left about them and I want to say I apologize for making this report. While they are not perfect as businesses have problems as Morgan Jewelers did but nobody is perfect. I am not a fan of RR and wished I never used this site for making complaints on businesses. Since they do not allow authors to remove reports I am left leaving a sorry note to the Fremont Theater themovieexperience. At the time I was outraged by the movie ticket prices going up and when I think about it, it wasn't their fault, its the movie industry that is making their demands for the theaters to pay more money to rent the films. the Fremont Theater themovieexperience is a beautiful theater and I go so much that the price doesn't bother me anymore, sure price matters but I have been a huge fan that I cannot believe I wrote this original post about the the Fremont Theater themovieexperience. They are struggling and I am really sorry for making this post about them, I was in the wrong and I would remove this report if I could but rr doesn't allow removel of reports. So I want to say I am sorry to the Fremont theater movie experience.

As I had a change of heart and want to say I am sorry as much as I think they may feel the same way.

To The Movie Experience and to all the people who work there

I am making a change in my decision about Themovieexperience.com on my ripoff report I left about them and I want to say I apologize for making this report. While they are not perfect as businesses have problems as Themovieexperience.com did but nobody is perfect. I am not a fan of RR and wished I never used this site for making complaints on businesses. Since they do not allow authors to remove reports I am left leaving a sorry note to Themovieexperience.com. While ticket prices continue to go up and up the Themovieexperience.com has had tough business in surviving as the movie industry is not fair to the movie theaters. I was clearly in the wrong with this ripoff report and wish I never laid eyes on this website. I love the Fremont Theater and I wasn’t being understanding on their decisions how they have to handle the tough business and low profits they make. Today I go to the Fremont Theater as much as I can and yes even the downtown movie theater they own too. I am really sorry to the people at the Themovieexperience.com.

I am sorry I made this report, please accept my apologies as I had a change of heart and want to say I am sorry as much as I think they may feel the same way.

TheMovieexperience.com Fremont Theater Mission Cinemas? Downtown Theatre in San Luis Obispo still a RIPOFF

AUTHOR: J - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 05, 2010

Hey they did it again Themovieexperience raised the price again and again folks. The Fremont Theater, the Mission Cinemas and Downtown Centre 7 Cinema in San Luis Obispo is now $11.50, that's right a $11.50 per ticket, not exceptions. That's what they charge.

Think they care, not a darn.

And they even raised the price for 3D tickets to $13.50 too, wow, even if you bring your own glasses they still charge the same rip-off price. Amazing they continue to raise the price and rip people off. It is sad as they have not done a darn thing to make it affordable either.

Economy remains in recession and themovieexperience.com raises the prices faster than bean stock.

It is a shame that the Fremont Theater has horrible owners and the same with the Downtown

Theater Mission Cinemas? Downtown Theatre in San Luis Obispo.

The upgrade is never going to happen but continue to raise raise and raise their prices again and again.

Will remain a ripoff for San Luis Obispo residents till people stop going as the attendance has not been great either.

The movieexperience.com downtown theater Centre 7 Cinema Fremont San Luis Obispo is Outrageously a ripoff

AUTHOR: J - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 20, 2009

The San Luis Obispo downtown theater themovieexperience.com Fremont theater,
Downtown Centre 7 Cinema is a ripoff.

This place is a full ripoff (both the Fremont theater and the Downtown Centre 7 Cinema ), if you walk in the place after paying $9.50 after 2am matinee times, you'll understand this place is indeed 110% a ripoff. It is indeed
outdated and never maintained properly. The seats are squeaky; lot of students put their feet on the chairs being totally disrespectful to the other viewers when the seats sit so low, you can see nothing but heads and big hats in front of you. The audio is also terribly outdated as well, you can hear the how old they are if they have an action movie playing. Really for $9.50 for a matinee ticket, they certainly are in the negative here.

It is also true the place is run by misinformed college students and also the manager, another mismanaged college student, who doesn't even know how to run the place or make orders to respond to complaints to see customers are happy. They think just to raise the price, again and again and again where parking is terrible and you have to pay for parking to see a movie unless you want to walk several blocks away to get free parking.

They also do not have ushers, forget about asking them to ask people to quit talking, they avoid complaints on every level.

Food just like all of them, all high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup and trans fats foods for a ripoff. Everything they sell too, is all noisy wrap candies.

If you can, rent a movie or go online go look on torrents and see the movie for free online. With how bad the economy is, this movie theater is not in anyway understanding for how people are surviving to entertain on a cheap budget. To me, they deserve an F letter grade.

The Downtown Movie Experience in SLO, including the Fremont, is completely reasonably priced

AUTHOR: Limlo - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 08, 2008

I just searched online hoping to find more information on the Fremont Theatre of San Luis Obispo, CA, and the first thing to pop up on Google was this Rip-Off report, which I feel is ridiculous at best.
The Fremont Theater in downtown SLO is a beautiful historic movie theater with a giant screen. The ticket prices are as stated in the previous report, but they are a deal considering the venue. The wonderful historic architecture is reason alone to see a movie in this theater.
The Downtown Center Cinema is also priced accurately in the previous report, but the other allegations are not true. The prices stated are totally standard for movie screens on the Central Coast of California. In fact, I have been to many other similar California cities where movies cost between $9.50 and $11.00 for a night show. The author (Mark) of the previous report sounds both cheap and untraveled. While I have only been to a few movies in Mark's native Santa Maria (roughly forty minutes South of SLO) I don't recall their theaters showing a significant price difference.
Reading the previous long-winded report, I couldn't but help to fashion a reply. Mark complains that the theater is unusually dirty - it isn't - and he also complains that the seats "wiggle and makes noises" (um, that's *make* noise Mark, not *makes*), which they don't, although some do recline, which is nice.
However, the kicker for me when reading the previous report was Mark stating that he "was offered nothing from [the] manager and [felt] she was not doing her job." So, Mark was not offered a refund, and thus thinks he was mistreated? How sad. Or perhaps the offending 'seat kickers' (see original report) were not kicked out on their rears? I am offended by the initial report's gross sense of entitlement. It assumed that by studying at desk between breaks, the workers weren't doing what they were supposed to do. Well, I hate to break it to you Mark, but theater ticket booth workers are not required to clean toilets, which is (at least in a public venue) a specialized janitorial job.
Also, assuming managers have control over corporate spending (IE: "I also mentioned the prices are expensive and there is nothing being done to improve the theater, she told me that she has no control of that issue.") is outrageous. They might be able to make suggestions, but pricing scale is out of their hands.
The entire original rip-off report sounds of trashy, cheap disappointment to me. I wonder if Mark is the sort of man who eats an entire meal prior to sending it back to the kitchen in restaurants, in an attempt to get something for nothing. I wouldn't be surprised.

Lastly, I want to stress that I don't, and have never, worked for a movie theater in any way, in San Luis Obispo or otherwise.
