So Sad Hermann From Las Vegas Nevada...
AUTHOR: Anonymous - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, October 27, 2009
POSTED: Monday, October 26, 2009Wow, this truly is a sad day for me to see such dishonor posted up on the internet for the entire world to see by one of our countries own soldiers. We are a nation, a strong nation at that. The ones who fight for our country, let it be Air force, Marines, Navy, Army or Coast Guard are all heroes in my book. Anyone who takes the step from civilian to soldier should be respected regardless of what branch. I come from a long line of military and am a Marine. I don't know what they teach you in the Air Force but we are all here for the same purpose, to protect our country. I am very proud of the time I served, and yes I had 3 tours to Iraq. While on the front line I witnessed many of my brothers fall. Some I knew well, some not so well. But they were my brothers and I watched may sacrifice their lives for our country. I would treat you the same way if we were in combat together, as a brother. I know there's rivalry between the branches, some think they're better than others, maybe its true, and maybe its not. But we are Americans all fighting for the same caus. Freedom... Please keep that in mind next time you start ranting on a national forum about how much better you are than us Marines. Also keep in mind that "our" government signs both of our checks. Thus, making them our employer. That means we both work for the same company; The USA. Should I not be proud that I served an honorable 8 years for my country just because I'm a Marine? I think youd be the only one to say no if you think I shouldn't. Be safe over there and I hope you never see or go through what I did. God Bless you and all of the soldiers serving or that have served.

POSTED: Friday, February 13, 2009As most know the Air Force is a infant compaired to the legecy of the Marines, Navy, and Army. Having said this it should be understood that the Marines are part of the U.S. Navy and that is the origin of the cap they wear. This in turn means that it is the Air Force that took the design for their own and before anyone makes a smear comment of true combat arms they should look in their own back yard.

LASTLY- I AM PROUD OF MY SERVICE IN THE USAF, HOWEVER I REFER TO MYSELF AS A MARINE STILL TODAY. WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE?
A MARINE WILL ALWAYS BE A MARINE, HE OR SHE WILL RESPOND "I AM A MARINE" REGARDLESS IF THEY ARE 18 OR 75. THE REST OF THE BRANCHES REFER TO THEMSELVES AS FORMER, OR "I WAS IN THE ..."
WHY IS THAT? BECAUSE OF THEY TEACH HISTORY HERMANN. GET TO KNOW YOUR HISTORY.
MY MARINE CORPS CAME ALIVE, NOVEMBER 10. 1775. WE HAVE AND WILL BE AMERICAS PREMIER FIGHTING FORCE. SECOND TO NONE, AND OUR HISTORY REFLECTS THIS. AS A COMBAT DECORATED MARINE VETERAN. I AM PROUD OF YOU ALL. STAY MOTIVATED HERMANN. GET FOCUSED ON THE REAL ENEMY. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

POSTED: Friday, July 13, 2007The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial warfare branch of the United States armed forces and one of the seven uniformed services. Previously part of the United States Army, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on September 18, 1947.
Let me see if I understand you. A military branch formed 172 years before the Air Force has 'stolen your insignia'? All of the training you recieved was perfected by the Army, Navy, and Marines well before the idea of an 'Air Force' had ever been conceived. If you choose to look at things in a REALISTIC way everything the Air Force has was 'stolen' from the other branches including basic uniform design.
I in no way say this to disrepect ANY member of our Armed Forces who have sworn an oath to protect our lives and freedoms. I hope that people who read this complaint realize that Hermann does not 'represent' the branch in which he serves.
God bless our Troops!

confused, slightly embarrassed, and annoyed all at once
AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, July 12, 2007
POSTED: Thursday, July 12, 2007I will start this by admitting that I DID NOT read all the posts simply skimmed them because I had a feeling where this crap of a "report" would lead.
My defend the AF section of this post-
I am an active duty Security Forces (AFSF) Airman (E-5), with field experience in both OIF and OEF. I say this to illustrate the different types of Airman you can encounter.
In the Security Forces academy, you spent your whole time learning a bit of L.E. and alot of field work, from convoys, in depth anti-terrorism, convoys, recon operations, to securing airfields from the enemy and converting them to safe enough nests for our birds, to going in with Red Horse (AF equiv to Sea Bees) and building a base from the ground up. Basically our tech school left most of us laughing at AF basic training's physical and "combat" side. But still proud to wear AF Blue.
Once your "in" you yearly go to Ground Combat training at any one of our Security Forces multi-faceted and often interservice field areas across the globe.
At home station during our duty hours we protect the base, ensure Law and Order, and show up as quick as possible when someone needs us. Then when it comes time for deployments I've seen everything from running convoys with the 1st BCT to detainee work, to stickin on the flight line cushy watchin birds.
Now I don't fancy myself a grunt, squid, or jarhead, just a combat airman doing what I love and hate at the same time. And all you traditional ground pounders never complain when an an AF asset clears a tree line to get the shooting to go bye bye;-)
Some of you all need to get a grasp on ALL THE AF roles. Just like you don't want your service sterotyped try not to sterotype others. And on the issue of training (i.e. converting rifles to a smaller caliber) many of you just need to get your story straight and quit relying on rumors.
Now for what feels like my fair assessment of the originator of this thread-
Obviously you do know the Marines have had the multi point cap longer then we've had the term FP right? Do some research. And as the reply above illustrates in todays world outside tent-city the K-pot is your "patrol headgear." Unless your CPE or OSI, which I doubt if your rocking the FP bassard.
Second, if your the typical FP (force protection that guards the haji's cleaning the john's) please quit representing yourself like you are rollin outside the perim, i don't think the main purveyors of this subject need any further explanation of my point on that one.
If you were serious about this post (and God I hope you weren't) realize you have disrespected one of the world's premier fighting force (the USMC in which my father served and I've served beside), misrepresented the USAF through ignorance and unneeded "attention" to your lack of competence.
It is rare and generally rude to jump someone in your own field in public, but you wrote above that you are allowed to write what you want, you are, but as an airman remember our Core values before your rep the AF to the rest of the world. Hopefully no one will judge us by this.

POSTED: Sunday, April 29, 2007The reality is this...if a prior service member of any other branch joins the Marines, he/she must go to PI, or San Diego like any other recruit.
If a Marine joins any other branch, he/she does not go to that branch's version of Boot Camp.
Guess why.

As a Sailor, I knew Air Force airmen, who even hesitated to call their own basic training "boot camp".
My own Navy training aside, what about Navy SEAL training? Army ranger training?
As for the uniform thing; for the record, the marines were one of the first branches of the military established.
The air force wasn't even it's own branch of the military until after WW2 (it was simply known as the army air corp).
Can't believe the complaint. Nor can I believe I felt the need to respond.

At least you got the 6 weeks part right LOL!
"seen more combat in my 19 months in the airforce"

Also, you must not have learned anything in Basic, because the marines have been around quite a bit longer than the Air Force.

SUBMITTED: Wednesday, April 25, 2007
POSTED: Wednesday, April 25, 2007The USMC does not design anything, unless you consider creating rubble from perfectly good real estate "designing". And the day some AF YooHoo "protects" a Marine, I'll go away and never return. The uniforms are provided by the US Navy, and approved by Congress. "Patrol" cover? What are you blathering about? The helmet is the same one ALL US personnel wear. The soft cover is pure USMC, and the "Boonie" is also pure USMC. That one has been in the inventory for about 40 years, and was popularized in Vietnam.
Close air support from the Marines means you can feel the heat from the exhaust. Close air support from the AF means you can see them on radar.
Marines are warriors 24/7, all year long. Does the AF still have "Warrior Week"? For those who don't understand, this is the ONE week The YooHoos get to play "dress-up", and wear Cammies. Even the civilians play along. It's just embarassing.
You're a hoot, Hermann.
