After purchasing a money order from the Postal Office, which was lost in the mail never made it to Bank of America. The postal service will not re-issue me another money order for 60 days. These funds were used to secure a refinance for my mortgage. After several attempts to expedite this lost money order, customer service reps have hung up on me, refuse to transfer me to a supervisor, and continue to give me the runaround.
During these difficult economic times, I don't know of anyone who wants their money held up for 60 days.
There refund policy regarding money order is not posted anywhere and is only available on your receipt after you made a purchase. Banks and other institutions cancel your check immediately and re-issue another one right away.
Avoid them at all costs!!!!!

- I am a little surprised that BofA actually said they would accept a Money Order. Most of the time banks want any thing such as this do be done by Wire Transfers. But if they do accept Money Orders at least tell us you didn't just send it by First Class mail, instead sending it by Express Mail that has the ability to track the package. By the way Express is the ONLY method the USPS for tracking, their other "Delivery Confirmation" does not guarantee any sort of tracking short of letting you know it was picked up and delivered.
Banks and other institutions cancel your check immediately and re-issue another one right away.
- Don't be so sure about that statement. For one thing a Money Order is NOT a check. It is basically treated the same as cash. The wait is so that they basically don't want money "floating" around where it may be cashed so they require you to wait a period of time.

This money order was $902 and the postal service expects me to wait 60 days for my money back. The customer rep who hung up on me was named Donna and the manager is Abdul R. Bah. There phone number is 866-974-2733. There is no signage posting there refund policy for money orders. The information is given to you on the receipt after you purchase the money order. 60 days is a significant amount of time to wait for a refund!
