What happens when one wire transfer doesn't get credited into your account? Well every purchase you ever made until the next wire does destroys your account. And no amount of trying to settle the issue with WAMU, by phone or in person, can change their hardline stance. So after two months of trying to be a responsible customer what do I have to show for it? I have been reported to Chexsytems. The new bank I have will not allow me to use my checking card and when I went in to my new bank to take out cash, they had to call for permission to withdraw MY money from MY account.

I wasn't shocked to find out that the internet is loaded with charges against Washington Mutual, with whole sites dedicated to tales of mismanagement, fraud, poor customer service, and corruption. Because my own experience was that no matter how much money I poured into my account to cover direct withdrawals, checks I had written prior to being informed that my wire was never recorded, and how much pleading, begging, and cajoling I did to right the course, WAMU dinged me with over 35 Paid, Returned, and Insufficient fund fees, 4th and 5th generation fees upon other fees. It was the avalanche of 'we are charging you for having no funds to cover the last time we charged you for having no funds for the last time we charged you.' You get the picture.

I was nickeled and dimed to the tune of $1,100 in fees that I had agreed to pay about half of when this scam first started in March. Now I am listed with the other scam that is Chexsystems for five years and my new bank, Union Bank of California has stopped my right to write checks and use my debt card.

I have sent an email to WAMU that I am hiring a lawyer and I will make it my mission to tell every person with a Myspace account, Facebook account, and on every site known to the net about these fraudulent business practices. The level of arrogance that I received from customer service was staggering. WAMU was willing to remove one or two charges out of a "courtesy" but most people passed the buck and couldn't help me. The "last line" manager, who admitted that he had the power to to settle this account, told me that I was a risk and that my years of being a good customer meant nothing in the "big picture."

So now it is an issue of principle. If I am going to be denied basic checking account privileges for five years, than I will do what I can over those five years to make sure that my voice, and the voices of millions of others who are getting screwed by arrogant corporations and their lack of ethics and decency, are heard! Wake not the sleeping wolf! When you push people far enough they will strike back for integrity sake and common decency. You will fall Washington Mutual! And fall hard!

Is the fraud you'll be reporting...

AUTHOR: Striderq - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 08, 2008

the fraud that you committed? When you wrote checks and used your debit card to make purchases without the cash being in your account is fraud. I understand that an expected wire transfer did not occur. But it is your responsibility to make sure the money is available before you spend it. You didn't do this, so actually you are the one that has committed the crime. Please make sure to include this in all of your mySpace, Facebook, et al reports.
