I agree with you, satellite should be outlawed and they should be fined and sued, as should the greedy cable and dsl companies for not providing adequate coverage for larger areas. Hughes and the ilk limit you to very small download bandwith, any where from a few hundred k/b to a couple hundred m/b, should you hit that limit you're either cut back to below dial up speeds for at least a day or you're completely dropped and they try to harrass the early termination fee from you.
Also they have 0 customer support after the initial drop and run of the satellite. My aunt was charged 1,200 dollars for a satellite internet dish and installation from the thieves at Hughes/Direcway. The installation was done incorrectly and horribly, the guy used tape and common glue to install the satellite, Hughes refused to come out and correct it, leaving my aunt to pay another 200 dollars to an independent technician to come out and reinstall the criminal Hughes satellite.
She was running the connection to 4 computers and Hughes had 0 support for that, she called and asked for help to be hung up on saying they don't offer support for LAN (local area network). Which I'd like to add that both Comcast Cable and Verizon DSL service with free 24/7 technicians for all their customers. Sadly as mentioned above they don't service her area and left her with dial up or Shaftalite.
Terrible connection, constantly going out at the least breeze, drip of rain, or hint of a cloud, terrible download rates and consistencies, and sleezy, scamming business practices. Avoid these thugs at all costs!

Failing to see the connection...

I fail to see the connection between Wild Blue and Hughes/Direcway. Wild Blue is an independent satellite internet provider, which has agreements with Dish Network to provide their services. Hughes is owned by DirecTV, and I assume Direcway is owned by them too, although I'm not completely sure on that one. Anyway, they're NOT all the same, and it sounds criminal what Hughes puts you through.
