July 2001, I singed up for worldcom wireless 39.99 calling plan and 9.99 for unlimited mobile to mobile cell phone calls.
Novemeber 2001, received bill for 356.00 for calls made on the unlimited mobile to mobile plan. It clearly states "unlimited"
when we disputed charges, Worldcom stated, " the phone was in roaming range and charges would not be reduced as a result.
Here's the real kicker, they indicated there is no way for a customer to recoginze whether or not the phones are on roaming (if using the Nokia)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So basically, your phone may be roaming, but you as the consumer will never know it and you will be responsible for charges you had no idea you were incurring!!
The calling plan clearly states "unlimited mobile to mobile calls" This was just the begining of my nightmare.
November & December 2001 and January 2002, I made numerous calls to worldcom wireless requesting corrected billings. Nothing ever recieved. In fact worldcom was instructed to reduce one phone plan to the 19.99 contract and reduce the other phone to the 29.99 contract. Well, they completely screwed that up as well. They put each phone on a call plan that was never discussed with me, the consumer, nor did they have authorization to change monthly service to what ever they felt like !!!!
As of February 2002, further calls and complaints to worldcom went unanswered, all the while the charges continued to increase as a result of their failure to correct the mistakes they made. They continued to ask for money each month but did not feel obligated to provide customer support !
They were advise of the erronious billilngs and chose to ignore the issue when brought to their attention.
They have refused to correct the problem, it's that simple!
By April 2002, another complaint call was made to the management staff, since customer serv. does not call people back !!!!
Anwyay, April 2002 world come was instructed, again, the billings were not correct as they did not apply the appropriate calling plan charges, they indicated they "did" see a mistake and would fix the problem and credit the account and send out a corected billing to me.
As of june 2002, nothing was done by worldcom to correct the errors they were responsbile for !
June 2002, I called worldcom again to advise of the ongoing problems and since they failed to respond to these disputes in the past I terminated mohtly service contract effective 7/1/02.
I even have the name and tracking # of who I spoke to.
July 2002 comes - both cellular phones still active incurring charges despite my instruction to terminate service (one yr contract was up). All I got in July was another eronious billing statement.
By August 2002, I called Worldcom again and told them I would not be paying the charges as they were instructed to terminate service and did not do it, they never sent me corrected billing, nor did they call me back. All the while they are charging a monthly fee for the cell phones, yet there is no service to either phone. How do they continue to bill terminated contracts and not provide any service for the bills they have sent.
If I ran my busniess this way I would be in jail for Consumer breach of contract and Mail Fraud !!!!!!!!!!!
As of 9/30/02, Worldcom has sent me a bill for 1268.00.
As of 10/01/02 I received a collection notice.
They have yet to terminate the month to month contract, as I instructed them to do on numerous occasions, they continue to send increased billing charges with late fees, they have made not attempt to correct the mistakes they made.
It's gets even better now, when I called the 800 # I held for over 40 minutes, no one at world com will answer the phone.
I am going to write letters to all utility commisions, better Business Bureau, Attorney Generals Office, Credit Agencies and any other party I can put on notice.

If anything remotely, similiar has happended to anyone else, lets talk law suit !!!!!! I am going to take worldcom to court and seek a judgement against them and now that I am in collection I will bring forth a defamation of character suit as well.
It's pretty easy to see why this company went chapter 11 !
