We have been paying on a sofa from american freight for several months. We always made "on time" payments. We decided to pay it off & called American Freight to see how soon we could get delivery after paying it off. They told us that the sofa we had purchased was no longer available & that it was discontinued. After all these months...no phone call from them or even a letter to let us know. The man that we dealt with was named "Ian". He was rude & insulting to us both. He told us that he had the same thing in stock only it was in a different color (gray), so we asked to see it. It was NOT the same as what we had put on layway. The back was totally different. He actually stood there and ARGUED with us. Then when we told him we wanted our money back, he said "oh great" and let out a sigh. Like it was too much trouble. From the start he basically, but not in so many words, let us to believe that because WE put it on layway, that it was OUR fault for it not being there ! HELLO ! That's the reason that layway is there. Ian was in a pissed off mood, & made the whole thing much worse with arguing that he showed us the same sofa, when it wasn't. Then he said that we could get our money back in 14 days. Now, just to let you know, this was a Christmas present to me & my husband & we planned it this way so we could get delivery right after the 1st of December. But now, we have to wait 2 weeks, or who knows how long if ever, to get our money back. American Freight has really stuck it to us. And it will not stop here. We are filing a complaint with the Attorney General in the state of Ohio, where their corporate office is located, plus the BBB & anyone else we can think of. What is the point of having layway if you can't get the product you've paid for ???
