On May 23rd 2007 2 salesman approached my husband in the driveway of our home. Adam Kapcsos did the whole salesman thing and when I came home from work, my husband asked me about having the security alarm system installed, since we had been wanting to get one anyway.
Adam informed us that installation was free, we informed him that my husband was disabled and we were on a very limited income, so he waived the $99 installation fee and assured us that the montly fee would be $44.99 and
would remain the same, stating that after 3 years we could get a lower fee.
Our garage was being redone at the time, and we were told they would come back and intall in the garage for free. Nothing was mentioned regarding the $2999.40 owed if we cancel before the 3 year period. Nothing was mentioned regarding a $10 fee to register with the local sheriff's department (we have never had an alarm system before). Now, I receive notice that a 7% tax is being placed on the original payment bringing the monthly payment up to $48.14. I called the company this evening regarding cancelling due to false information given at the time the paperwork was signed. Since my husband is disabled, we cannot afford an increase, since we were originally stated that the price would stay at $44.99 for a 3-year period. The rep told me to fax in the cancellation notice, someone from the company
would contact us regarding paying the cancellation fee. I asked him how much the cancellation fee was, and he said to read the contract. We would owe the remainder of the money. So I just laughed at that one. We are unable to pay an additional $5 and they expect us to pay over
$2000.00 to them for being deceitful regarding the alarm system?? I told them to come remove their system from our home, we no longer wanted their services..they said they would once the cancellation notice was faxed in.
Please notify us if anything is done regarding this. We are not paying them for anything...they lied and were dishonest and took advantage of a man that is disabled and on a very fixed income.

You should have read the contract before agreeing to the service (just to make sure that the salesman has included everything). The cost of the equipment and terms should have been included in writing on the contract. The $3000 dollars covers the equipment and installation which you are charged for in case you cancel before the contract term.

A word of warning if you decide to have them remove the equipment. They will not patch any holes made in any walls or anything after the equipment has been removed you will have to pay extra to have someone come out and patch it (or do it yourself).

There is not much you can do about the extra money for taxes (just make sure it is an actual tax and if not turn them in for fraud).

If you check the contract close enough you will see that they can raise the rate with no or little notice.

Thanks
