AVI Services Affordable Vacations International Promotional offer from fake "Delta Airlines Reservation Center" for free US round-trip tickets Sacramento Califonria

I received a call from the "Delta Airlines Reservation Center" offering two free round-trip tickets anywhere in the U.S. as a promotion for their newly opened office at Sacramento International Airport. When I asked, they said this was not a time-share promotion, credit card promotion, etc. and that there was absolutely no cost to me to receive these promotional tickets -- except to attend a 90-minute meeting at the Hilton Hotel, Arden West, in Sacramento the following Thursday or Friday afternoon.

I said I would call back after talking to my wife and was told to ask for Katie Wilson.

I called the hotel to see if Delta Airlines had really reserved any meeting rooms for the following Thursday and Friday afternoons. I was told the only meeting rooms scheduled at those times were booked by "AVI Travel Services." I Googled "AVI Travel Services Sacramento California" and came upon a detailed scam report on AVI on this "Ripoff Report" web site two weeks earlier.

The telephone offer sounded too good to be true. And as usual, it wasn't. Thanks for saving me a wasted afternoon.
